Cal went to 3 NIT’s and had 2 NCAA first round exits during his first 5 years at Memphis. It took the good teams leaving CUSa for the BE and WWW buying players for him, in order for Cal to win. He fooled everyone by beating up on JV suads like Rice and UAB.

I thought our defense was good (until we were forced to play Vargas due to Jorts fouls in the 1st half), but Vandy kept nailing 3’s.
Could Cal have mixed up the defense? I guess. You don’t go zone against a team nailing 3’s though.

And where are the shout outs for Jones, he played a great game because he concentrated on rebounding and working inside. Cats played a great game and if the refs would have been neutral we would have won. Besides Vandy shot lights out from 3 and the free! Tough to beat when you also have to beat the refs! this is cal’s second yr, so blame gillespie for not having any other talent on his team (except PPat) prior to Cal getting here. Some players are just what they are, some arent ready for the spotlight. The best HS players are ready for that, UK wants to win now, so why not get those guys. You all would be sucking Cals d*** and offering a contract extension if we had Kanter, then our top 4 players would be freshman but we dont. really?? then Youve never been to a UK neutral court game. The crowd will be blue, and its a defacto home court. Add in the freshman not playing against loud ass home crowds, and it makes a real difference.
UK beat Notre Dame on “neutral” but it was kinda a home game right? Washington?
No way UK beats ND or UW on the road. It makes a HUGE difference in young teams. It takes veteran players to win on the road and we just dont have them. On neutral courts usually the “best team” wins. Anybody think Wisconsin beats Ohio St on neutral floor, or was it the roudy home crowd that added 7-10 points.

UK barely loses on the road and looks like the Lakers at home. Trust me there is a difference with crowd intimidation in late game situations with this team. Im not saying we win a NC, but Ill bet anyone on this board UK beats Georgia, OleMiss and Alabama by 10+ on neutral court and probably will beat Vandy and Florida if given the chance.
We are not an Elite 8 team, but were MUCH better than 5-5 in the SEC, its the ROAD games killing us

I am sick of “the sky is falling” idiots commenting lately. This team played very well today and just got beat by a better team playing outstanding on its home court. Two years ago this was a 40 point beat down. This year, we lose a tough one down the stretch that we had a chance to win. If you honestly prefer junior and senior laden teams that can’t compete to one with precocious freshman and not enough overall depth, why not move closer to Bloomington or better yet, Knoxville, and cheer for those losers. Losers….

The “we shouldn’t be upset, (insert team name) is good team. No shame in losing to them on their home court” line is getting old. This Kentucky, and we’re 1-5 on the road in the SEC.
Look at it this way. This team doesn’t play well in front of opposing crowds, that’s for sure. But they play exceptionally good in front of a friendly crowd. The tournaments are held on neutral courts and no fan base travels like ours does. We should have a crowd advantage in the tourneys, when it actually counts. FINAL FOUR BABY!
It’s hard to beat anyteam in america that shoots 11-20 from 3 point range and 20-23 from the foul line. I thought we actually played very well.

Liggins doesn’t cry when he’s called for a foul that he didn’t commit. Lamb has on occasion, but Liggins plays the game straight up.
Not that it’s right to bitch, and we all know it only hurts you to do so. But since Liggins invests so much of himself in the game, I can overlook that. He doesn’t do it all the time.
Maybe Lamb’s worst game of the year. Also, we seemed to have alot of unforced errors. When we are facing a good team on their floor we can’t have those.
