Poythress on the High School Naismith Watch List

2012 Kentucky signee and absolute beast in the paint Alex Poythress is one of 13 players placed on the watch list for the Naismith High School Player of the Year award. Poythress is averaging an insane 30 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks per game this season for undefeated Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Kentucky target Shabazz Muhammad is also on the watch list for the award.

Cats.

And to think with BCG still here next year’s starting five could have been Euton, Zollo, Avery, Ross-Miller, and Jon Hood. Wouldn’t that be a BAD Dream team

This is off topic, but I’ll be in Nashville Saturday night and would like to go to a UK friendly bar and watch the UK/Chattanooga game. Does anyone know of a good bar to watch the game, preferrably down town?

#4– Good Question. Cal has already lost one Title game because his Memphis team couldn’t make the freebies and put Kansas away. Freebies would have put Indiana down the crapper too, but oh well. Just don’t know why Cal’s teams can’t throw it in the ocean from the free throw line. Every FT will count on a deep tourney run, got to make ’em. That’s why they’re called “FREE”.

Somebody on ESPN said he thought Davis could come back. What say ye?

Or to open it up, across the board what is the handicap?

Cats are gonna have a great season, but dont think it will end a title. Free throws, too young, and inconsistent 3 shooting is all it takes.

Keeping up his excellent recruiting reputation, here is what BCG has listed for Tx Tech on Scout.com for 2012:

**PG NR Clyde Smith(Hotchkiss School)Lakeville, CT 6-1/160 Stanford, Baylor, Florida International, LSU, Marquette, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Wake Forest

    Yes, that is all.

I dont meant to take away from this kids immense talent, but what is the latest news on Archie Goodwin?? I feel he has been overshadowed by Poythress as of recent. Just curious.

Scratch him off the Player of the Year Award. He’s signed with UK. That’s automatically 3 strikes against him getting any kind of an award…….

Hopefully he ends up in the top 10 and Willie Cauley moves up as well. You say high school doesnt change the rankings much, but I recall Brandon Knight being #1 all year until the rankings after his senior season. I believe he is the kind of player our fans are gonna love, he will be a work horse like MKG.

#7, I believe Davis will return. I know he’s projected at #1, but he is waaaayyy too weak right now for the NBA and has yet to show us much of an offense other than dunking, he did hit that nice elbow jumped against IU though. I can easily see all our freshmen being back regardless of projections. These kids want to get better, love college, and love playing for Cal. If we win a title, then this opinion could change, but if we dont, I can see these guys wanting to come back.

I’m surprised Louisville did not get Junior Bridgeman to persuade Poythress into playing at Louisville and someday joining Wendy’s ownership team.
