Potential UK Coach Bowl, Tonight at 10:30 on ESPN2

In a few hours, Sonny Dykes’ Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will take on Mike MacIntyre’s San Jose State Spartans in a game that will impact the WAC standings significantly. This game may not be important to you, but it features two coaches who have been rumored to be in consideration for he Kentucky job. It’s well documented by now that Dykes runs the “Air-Raid” style offense, but he hasn’t had a chance to face two good teams in a row. Tonight changes that, MacIntyre’s Spartans are 9-2 and are looking to be the second straight team to knock off the Bulldogs after Utah State defeated them last week in Ruston, Louisiana. MacIntyre is a bit of an unknown in this search, but tonight you’ll finally have a chance to check him and his team out.

Because success is never to be rewarded….I guess if we go “Bowling” in two seasons you’ll be staying at home watching UT or the Wisconsin Curling Team on the Internet.
Looks like it’s Dykes job to turn down. Still think Patrino is the best choice, but hell everyone has their own opinion.
Both of ’em – yawn… next.
It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a defense-minded head coach and hopefully he can attract a really good OC. That’s why I was hoping for Kirby Smart before he allegedly told us “No thanks.”
what have i done? coached 5 star nfl prospects under a top 3 coach all time at the winningest college program of all time……doesn’t prove that I can win with 2 and 3 star recruits at UK. UK needs a coach that can do more with less!!! not more with the best.
7)That is exactly why Sonny Dykes is the man. Do you think he has better players than us? I doubt it very much.
6)You have it backwards. We need a great offensive minded coach and hopefully he can attract a really good defensive mind.
In order to win when you have less talent than any other SEC team, you have to have someone who has an offense that can score lots of points because your defense is going to give up some. We just don’t have the players right now to stop the other team from scoring so the only way that we can be competitive is to score a bunch.
I am watching this game, and I find myself seriously questioning whether these styles would even translate into the SEC. Can typical Kentucky players even run this in today’s SEC and have it work? Or would they just throw 7 interceptions per game?
