Matt, after listening on the radio to the game tonight (don’t get the game on TV) I’m going to take a more positive approach to the season. The cats played pretty well tonight. Granted it’s Kent State! I think a lot of teams on the schedule are beatable.. Florida, Arkansas and mizzou. Not saying we will beat them but with a young team, the possibility of beating one of these teams is something to look forward to for the future, especially in a down football year!

Matt, you just made one of the most ridiculous conclusions I have heard. Maybe you need some football coaching lessons….or maybe you just need to realize this is the real world and not a murder trial where you need indisputable physical evidence.

To dis the caller that suggested that Joker’s personality is a problem on this team was completely out of line and flat-out wrong. I could write a thesis on this, but I will save you the reading…that is one of the most clear of Joker’s many problems that can be seen on his football teams. For you to suggest that we have to be in the locker room to know is ludicrous.

First, Joker can barely speak in full sentences. One of his primary problems is communication…and that will lead into the emotion issue…as even if a person were to have good emotion (motivation, enthusiasm, etc), the inability to effectively communicate it will fail every time.

And, watch the players on the field and ON THE SIDELINES. You will see what type of intensity and fire this team has. Since Joker has been here, discipline problems have devastated this team (attrition)…and on the sidelines, the players act like little league players…dancing to the music, watching the fans, watching the wave, joking and giggling…all that while getting torched on the field. The flat, heartless play on the field, escpecially on the defensive side of the ball, is telling as well. Our guys do not play like they have any sense of urgency what so ever…and, even with tonight’s win, his teams have been plagued by slow starts and flat early play…signs of teams that are not prepared to play and not motivated for the game.

So, you can keep kissing Joker’s ass all you want, but this program sucks for an SEC football program. We are all happy and predicting 7 wins after beating a low level MAC team.

#2 yeah I think we will beat Florida, Arkansas, Missouri…all those teams and more. I look for a 10 win season. I can’t wait for SEC play to start so Joker can really show what this team can do.

It’s a shame because this team is clearly better than the team last year, but WKU apparently improved more than we did. It would be nice if one of the years our defense is good could coincide with one of the years our offense is good, then we could have another 2007-like year.

He was genuinely trilled to be out on Rupp’s court even if they were being stomped. Listening to Matt, apparently Tressel’s Show Cause is weak.

    From a 2011 SI article:
“The committee gave Tressel a five year show-cause, but the penalty only has teeth for the first five weeks of Tressel’s first season, when he must miss games. He also must miss that season’s bowl game.”
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/12/20/jim-tressel-ohio-state-ncaa-sanctions/index.html

If that’s correct, his assistant coach runs the team the first 5 games (no big deal when you give him a 4 or 5 year contract), and if you somehow make a bowl game your first year, his assistant coach runs that, too. That’s not a lot to sacrifice if we could get him. And you know he wants a shot at taking down some SEC teams.

    44) Matt’s only cutting off the self-promoting blowhards and the idiots who won’t answer his basic questions.

  49. Linda Taylor

Jim Tressel’s show cause lasts until Dec 19th 2016 (Wikipedia)

  50. Han
    12:24 am September 16, 2012 Permalink

    43) Assuming no magical grand slam (the big name NFL coaches who aren’t coaching), you go for a Tressel type first (tainted but a great coach). Then you go for a Leach. If you miss on those levels, Taggart is at the top of the up-and-comers for a UK.

    49) He misses a few games and we submit a report on him a couple times a year. That’s apparently all that really is required to hire him.

And he’s a big enough name that he wouldn’t get stuck in Cal’s shadow.

Pg 20, Jim Tressel’s Show Cause

    1) He misses first 5 games and any postseason that year. Can’t be anywhere near the venue at those times.
    2) Within 60 days of hiring him, send a report to NCAA Infractions demonstrating how you’re gonna keep him from breaking the rules again. (If any compliance department has experience watching for violations, Sandy Bell and Co. do). Thereafter, every six months, you send a report detailing the monitoring.

We’re watched closer than any other school in basketball. Would it really be worse if we were watched the same in football?

Offer Tressel (maybe put out feelers to NCAA first), promise financial improvements to the program to get him.
