Poll finds that 2/3 of Kentuckains are UK fans

Yeaaah, not so much.

The website publicpolicypolling.com recently surveyed 1266 registered Kentucky voters on topics ranging from politics to sports to bourbon. Here are some of the most interesting results:

– If Ashley Judd and Rand Paul faced off for the 2016 Senate seat today, it would basically be a dead heat, with 47% voting for Paul, 46% voting for Judd, and 7% not sure.

Kentucky fans outnumber Louisville fans by a 66/17 margin, making it one of the most lopsided rivalries the site has ever polled on.

John Calipari has a 49/15 favorability rating, which is much more impressive than Rick Pitino’s rating of 44/32.

Kentuckians’ favorite NFL Team? The Bengals with 25%, followed by the Cowboys and Packers with 11%, 9% for the Colts, 8% for the Bears, 7% for the Steelers, 5% for the Titans, and less than 1% for the Rams.

– When asked to choose between Jack Daniels and Jim Beam, those polled favored Beam 20% to 18%, with 61% not having a preference. Obviously they need to do a little more bourbon research next time.

Agree? Disagree? Go at it.

    Not surprising, at least not to us. The typical delusional UofL fan will be shocked and flabbergasted and then say the poll was biased. They don’t even realise how split their own city is. In Louisville itself, the population is about 50/50 between UK and UofL.

    Oh, and I’m also of the minority 0.00000001% Cleveland Browns fans.

    Never mind, answered my own question. “Paul’s 43/39 approval makes him more popular than his senior colleague Mitch McConnell.”

    If Judd, or anyone else, runs for senate in KY it should be to unseat McConnell and not Paul.

    Jack Daniels is not a bourbon, but to be truthful Jim Beam barely qualifies. (same category as Old Crow, JTS Brown, and Old Granddad). List of good bourbons (not all inclusive) are Four Roses, Elijah Craig, Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve, Ridgemont Reserve 1792. If you want to stick with the Jim Beam label, I recommend Knob Creek.

    #28. Bourbon doesn’t have to be made in KY to be called bourbon (while it is true that is how it got its name…from the bourbon region in kentucky many years ago when KY was an infant state). The differences between bourbon and whiskey have to do with ingredients, aging requirements, and the process itself.

Bourbon rules do not allow you to add anything, when you take it out of the barrel. The only thing that is acceptable it to add water to adjust the proof. I would personally smack a bartender if they offer me JD if I order a bourbon.

    Ugh. Ok – I post on occasion and it is clear I am a UofL fan. But I will actually be reasonable in this post. My observations:

    I think outside Jefferson County, UK fans outnumber UofL by at least a 9-1 margin. In Jefferson County, I would say it is probably 50/50;

    Not surprised by the Bengals winning, but I get the feeling in Jefferson County there are probably more Colts fans than Bengal fans;

    Beam vs. Jack Daniels? How can any Kentuckian favor Tennessee Whiskey over Kentucky Bourbon?

    One last thing – What are the chances that Bobby Petrino’s WKU squad will beat both UK AND UT next year? I give the Hilltoppers a 65% chance. Bobby will be looking for payback for not being considered for either job.

Or the amount of coal tax revenue used in the general fund for infrastructure repair and expansion benefiting only the urban areas. For damn sure don’t check the ratio of contribution to population.

    If you are citing state income taxes from the Louisville ”
    Metro” area as stolen, then you are way of base. Non-profits from Jefferson county received over 2400 in state grants for a $52 million. The state also supports Louisvile’s 175,000 medicaid recepients. At an avg medical cost of $3000 per person…that totals over $525 million annually. This doesn’t include state funding that U of L receives, et al.
