I don’t read Playboy, but if I did, it would be for the college basketball articles. In this month’s feature on college basketball predictions, analyst John Gasaway predicts that Kentucky will make it to the national championship game this spring, eventually losing to Michigan State.
Gasaway, like Calipari, knows that he’s watching a young team who has yet to figure everything out, saying that he thinks the team needs at least a month before they can accurately be judged. However, Gasaway did think that it was “an overreaction” that the Wildcats dropped out of the Top 25 after losing to Notre Dame and Baylor last week; he himself dropped the Cats from number two to number fifteen. Not sure Calipari would agree with that statement, but hopefully it’ll be a moot point if the Cats reappear in the polls this week after two wins.
As for the rest of the tournament, Gasaway thinks it will unfold a little like this:
Sweet 16: Indiana over Marquette; Kansas over Butler; Kentucky over Arizona; Duke over Pittsburgh; Florida over UCLA; Gonzaga over Louisville; Michigan State over Syracuse; N.C. State over Ohio State.
Elite 8: Indiana over Kansas; Kentucky over Duke; Florida over Gonzaga; Michigan State over N.C. State.
Final Four: Kentucky over Indiana; Michigan State over Florida.
Title game: Michigan State over Kentucky.
I feel weird that I just wrote this post. @KristenGeilKSR
