Tonight I had my first of three NFL Fantasy Football drafts. As anyone who has read this site for a long time knows, I am not the biggest fantasy football or NFL guy in the world. My preferences move towards the college side of football and I actually dont know a great deal about fantasy football and who are good producers of numbers. Yet I am in three leagues, one legal, one with an advertiser and one with the Louisville media. I plan on losing all three. My team seems relatively decent, but I was dismayed that I ended up picking a guy named “Pierre.” When I picked him, most people said “oh thats a good pick”, but I could only picture a French dainty man with a beret playing for the “Pitino’s Health Plan” Fantasy team. Now that I have him however, I will focus on Pierre and he is the official KSR Fantasy Player of the Year. Pierre Thomas of the New Orleans Saints…our man.
— If you were online this afternoon, you would have seen reporters hyping a big 8 pm story. I was baffled as to what it could be as I had heard nothing and then when 8 came, we learned it was nothing. Those sites and tv stations that do preseason specials or publications (which we have to do next year I guess), were able to interview John Wall. He said he was glad to be here at UK, planned on playing well and helping try to win a title. Not exactly groundbreaking news.
— Rick Pitino‘s day still baffles me. Everytime I watch the press conference again, I find something else bizarre. The most recent comment that made me shake my head was his “I need this trial to be over” lines, seemingly criticizing the US Attorney for asking for a Karen Sypher psychiatric evaluation. He said that he “needed it to be over”, seemingly for the basketball season. Yeah Rick, that is what we all are most concerned about…your basketball season. He really should have kept quiet.
— I hear from a very good source that UK and Billy Clyde spent the last two days in settlement negotiations and that an agreement is “within reach.” I was told Gillispie attended one of the settlement conferences himself, as did a representative from UK. We might see some movement on this soon.
— I love “Hard Knocks”, the best show on television if you are a sports fan. Best behind the scenes action you will see on sports….plus you never know what Ochocinco will say next.
Less than 10 days until the first game. I cannot wait…
