Photos from Day 1 of Tent City

I took a few laps around the Big Blue Madness campout today to see how it’s going with the early campers. Most people were napping in their tents (or in their chairs) but I managed to find a few troopers who are up and enjoying the scene.

Wake up, Wildcat Rick!

The yellow tent!

“Irritants” are prohibited? Is that supposed to keep UofL fans away?

I’m sure the experience is great if you have no responsibilities or just have vacation days to burn, and not to be Debbie Downer, but if you are online right when tickets go on sale on ticketmaster there are great seats to be had. Last year I got 15 rows up lower level dead center on ticketmaster right when they went on sale. Just make sure you are logged in ready to roll right at 7 am. (Same scenario but seats were a little higher in lower level the previous year).

We need to incorporate a tent erecting contest (ah, how can I phrase that better?) during BBM, and have yellow tent dude as the MC…

“a current student-athlete can lose their future eligibility if their name, picture, autograph, or likeness is sold.” “… unless it’s the ncaa doing the selling.”

The Anthony Davis/Frida Kahlo mash-up is still amazing

You’ll have to forgive me, but what’s the significance of the yellow tent?

#15, if you scroll down you will see a time-lapse of the tents being set up over a several-hour time frame. The dude with the yellow tent was seen haplessly trying to get his tent up while everyone around him successfully set theirs up. Poor guy must have spent two hours trying to get that thing set up!

So for 4 days those people don’t shower?

Definitely amazed by the AD/Kahlo pieces. One more reason I absolutely adore our fanbase.
Ticketmaster person doesn’t get it. We’re not out there because it’s just about the tickets.
It’s because THIS IS WHAT WE DO.

    Voice of Reason?

Apparently, you’ve never been in the military.

I’ve spent weeks with no shower. I don’t think 4 days is going to kill anyone.

I have camped out before and got good tickets and have camped out and got uppers so I think I’m just going to go hang out down there of the evening time and not even worry about tickets. I think the campout is better than the actual madness in some ways.

I was reading the rules and is it just me or should load of us go dress up like duke fans, get a bouncy of duke player autographs then sell them on eBay, let the NCAA know an dbelieve we are duke ppl and have them loss their college eligibility

Last year I was in fact online at 7:00 a.m., and when I first tried for tickets the site gave me an error message. Tried again immediately at 7:03 and they were gone. That’s why I’m driving 7 hours from NC to get some damned tickets this year.
Does everyone who is in a tent by 2:00 p.m. Friday get four tickets?

22: it’s not whether YOU sell the autograph; it’s whether the student athlete did.

    “[S]hould a load of us…sell them on eBay…?”
    Pretty clear what you wrote.
