Perry Ellis of the Atlanta Falcons commits to Kansas

Well, we can’t win ’em all. Perry Ellis chose Kansas over Kentucky, Kansas State, and Wichita State in a press conference from the Atlanta Falcons indoor training facility. Coach Cal has been after Ellis since he was at Memphis, but in the end, the homestate school won the commitment.

UK will show Ellis what he’s missing out on when the Cats play the Jayhawks in the Garden on November 15th. I hope the young man doesn’t regret his decision after watching that beatdown.

Cheer up! We got Archie Goodwin!

He never wowed me in his videos, but Cal loved…so I loved him. Probably a good 3 – 4 year guy.

He’ll really start to regret this on Novemeber 15th, but best of luck Perry, not everyone can be part of the greatest tradition in college basketball.

I hope somebody sends the NCAA compliance office a screen shot of that KU ad in the high school gym. If it were UK, somebody would already have a story out about how we committed a violation and the NCAA would be halfway through an 8 page letter.

Alex Poythress is better than Perry Ellis and we have a good shot at landing him…much rather have Poythress.

Can we NOW drop the talk that Cal gets anybody he wants?!?!? I know Cal is doing a great job but to still think all he has to do is walk in a room and get whomever he wants is a dream. I still think he will pull off a great class, but he doesn’t win them all. And that’s ok. Go Cats!

Just wait until Nov. 15th. I’ll show you guys how a coach works on the big stage. I always win them when the pressure is on.

    15. Im not saying Cal gets whoever he wants…..but, I can promise you this, Cal will show interest is some guys in order to make the favorite nervous and make them spend extra time on players they already have. That way they dont spend extra time on the real guys Cal wants. He does it all the time, you let Self not worry at all about getting Perry and let him spend his free time working your other guys and you can lose several guys, make him worry about guys he already has and then guess what, you dont have to babysit the real guys you want or expect to get, does any of that make sense?

#19 – Cal would do something like that – genius

15…when Cal tells a player, “Don’t come here if you’re not ready to suffer for your playing time, by way of drill after drill after drill. And lap after lap after lap.”. That causes a kid with no motor to pick a softer school. I.e. KANSAS…

    15) We all know Cal doesn’t get all his targets. He wanted Xavier Henry here.

But unlike many coaches, including former UK coaches, Cal is in with enough high caliber players that 1 and 1a are such big gets that missing on either one isn’t a huge deal. He still gets “who he wants.”

  25. Voice of Reason

Case in point, Xavier Henry…what did he do at Kansas? Noy sure, but I can tell you what he DIDN’T DO… have the season that John Wall or Eric Bledsoe had.

23- Do we know that is what happened with Ellis?

24- When you go after so many, you will get what you want, but that doesn’t mean he always gets first choice.

If a player chooses Kansas over UK, he obviously isn’t that smart so I don’t want him anyways. He must not have NBA aspirations.

Perry Ellis wasn’t even 5 star. He knew he would ride pine at Kentucky so he chose to go to a lesser school.

If he’s better at designing clothes then let him.

@ present, not Xactly certain as to how, butt Ellis’ picking Kansas just has to be Joker’s fault, & likely plenty of “blame” here, too, to pin a lil’ on Tubby, as well?????
