It’s nice to see John Pelphrey get off to a fast start this basketball season at the University of South Alabama. The former “Unforgettable” took over the lifeless program four years ago and has compiled a 36 and 48 record in his first three seasons. However, this year the team has started out 6 and 1, with the one defeat coming at Purdue. You would expect ultimate success from Pelphrey with his amazing basketball pedigree. He played high school ball in Paintsville under legendary coach Bill Mike Runyon. He then played for both Eddie Sutton and Rick Pitino in college. After a brief stint of professional ball in Europe, he served as an assistant under both Eddie Sutton and Billy Donovan. On top of all of this, he is a genuinely good guy. Here’s hoping he gets it done at South Alabama, and gets an opportunity to move to a bigger program in the near future.
