As we watch the rise of Patrick Patterson — his non-dominant performance against Vandy notwithstanding — so are the NBA onlookers. The December 30th DraftExpress.com mock draft has him as #19 to the Mavericks. Today’s mock draft at nbadraft.net shows Patterson joining Philidelphia at #13. A December 30th collegehoopsnet.com mock indicates Patrick will be picked 25th. (I guess picking teams is not important to the college-focused site.) Dime Magazine’s December 23rd mock puts Patrick in Sacramento at #25 (above Tyler Hansbrough and Louisville’s T-Will).
Despite how many digits he gets in his NBA contract, we should be a little more worried about the digits on his hand. The C-J’s Brett Dawson reports that Coach Billy Gillispie said today that Patterson has a “strained tendon or something like that.” Coach says that the injury has been bothering Pat, “but hopefully he’s getting better.”
(I do so enjoy Coach Gillispie talking about medical issues. He doesn’t pretend to understand what it is his players are suffering from. To him, injuries are just reasons to take it easy in practice.)
Hopefully Patrick didn’t hurt the fingers on his pickin’ hand.
