I just want it to be fun. Really don’t care if we aren’t contending for the SEC title – no unreal expectations. All I expect is that we have a ‘chance’ when we play SEC teams and the style of play is fun to watch. There are a lot of things about the Mumme era that we could do without – but I do miss the excitement and the sense that we were going to be in for a show, win or lose. Is that too much to ask for?

    22. You’re way of thinking is part of the reason UK football struggles. You’re low expectations is what keeps UK football down. Why spend any money on football when fans like you have such low expectations. If it’s not your goal to win titles then why play at all. We shouldn’t have a program just to “have a chance.” We should demand a program that wins.

To be honest, i think there are still too many fans there. Do these people really not have anything better to do then to go watch a team that has absolutely no chance to win on a cold, nasty day?

  29. Rob
    1:06 pm November 3, 2012 Permalink

You did this Mitch by not spending money on football. Do the right thing and do what this fan base wants you to do and get the hell out of town. And don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

  30. UK Alum
    1:07 pm November 3, 2012 Permalink

This is a sad day for UK football. We need to get a head coach that sells their program like Calipari and Mitchell do. Like Pitino did when he was there. Usually they are full of their self, but know they are good. They are marketing geniuses. Once we get a new coach, then they need to do what Oregon did and get some crazy, exciting uniforms that teenagers like and think they are cool. Us alum don’t have to like them. Then they need to get to work recruiting, lifting and teaching the game.

Good luck on the next hire. I know Mitch is already working behind the scenes to get his next man.

Don’t hate Mitch. He has every other program going great! He made a bad move by nA,ing Joker the next head coach of UK way to early before Brooks left. He couldn’t back out of the commitment. He will learn from his mistake and never name another future head coach. He get the next one right for the football team.

I only expect one thing from the players. EFFORT. 100 percent. Every play. Every game. From the coaches, I expect competentcy. We are getting neither one from the players or the coaches. The coaching staff is entirely to blame. Joker has the fire in his belly of a glass of warm milk. He is a horrible motivator.

#43, they announced about 41K “in attendance.” This number automatically includes all season ticketholders–about 39K–regardless of whether they actually came (and by the looks of it, few actually did), and it also includes all of the people working the game. How many people are actually “in attendance,” in the sense any of us might use that term, will be far less than the cooked 41K number announced. Looks like maybe 20K from the picture (maybe).

    LEXINGTON, Ky.

    #63
Just when it seems the season can’t get worse for the University of Kentucky football team, the next game happens. But Saturday looked every bit like rock bottom as a crowd of no more than 20,000 fans watched the Wildcats take a 40-0 beating at the hands of Vanderbilt.

It was Kentucky’s worst loss to the Commodores since 1916. That’s 96 years, to be clear. The two teams have played 78 times since then. This latest humiliation against the team long considered the Southeastern Conference’s doormat comes on the heels of last season’s 30-point loss to Vanderbilt, the Cats’ previous worst in the series since 1969.

“Ain’t NO WAY i am coming to that Goat Farm!!!”

Man Ive tried. Ive been to every home game. Even went to Mizzou last week. We go to Cat Walk. Make dumb silly signs. Support the boys. But today I finally said enough. We left at halftime. I still cant believe it has gotten this bad. Thing is…we all saw it coming. All but Mitch. He has made some great hires. He has made some bad ones. I hope he gets this one right. This just hurts really bad.

Joker is a great guy, alumni and an absolutely first rate assistant, unfortunately the on the field performance almost looks like they are trying to be this bad. Mitch needs to understand that most of us really like joker, I think he’s great an wish he could stay and build the program as an alumni who would stick around, but it just doesn’t seem like that’s the case or writhin the realm of possibility. Something has to be done, at the same time I do wish we could put more fans I. The stadium, this picture is embarrassing, if I wasn’t out of the area now, I’d show up, it’s sad where we have ended up, just a couple of years ago there was more excitement surrounding uk football then any other time in my life and now we have worse turnout then a high school HC girls basketball game
