Been waiting for that perfect reminder of the glory of that wonderful weekend last April in New Orleans, when this state’s rightful owner of the NCAA crown defeated all pretenders and brought it home for the 8th time? Well, you’re in luck!
On its 1-Year Anniversary, we are proudly announcing the definitive championship Fine Art Print that beautifully commemorates Kentucky’s latest NCAA title… this one painted by a Kentuckian and commissioned by Legendary Kentucky Coach Joe B. Hall: “Eight is Great”.
“Eight is Great” is a must-have Fine Art series of ONLY 20 TOTAL PRINTS: 12 Limited Edition Prints (for the year 2012), plus 8 Artist’s Proofs (for the 8 national titles). Each print will be an oversized (approximately 36” x 54”), high-quality Gicleé print that is beautifully & professionally framed, and each Certified print will be individually autographed by Coach John Calipari!
Produced by acclaimed Orlando Magic artist and Lexington native David Bryan Blondell, the beautiful, detailed artwork accurately depicts the likenesses of Coach Calipari and key members of the team as they compete — and then celebrate, confetti & all — in the Superdome against the Dirty Birds & the Jayhawks!
This wonderfully photo-realistic yet artistic rendition was commissioned by Coach Hall last fall after he received an original painting from Blondell of the 1978 team that Hall guided to Title #5. “I’ve been collecting sports art for many years from many different and famous artists, and David’s imagery of the ‘78 team is among the best I’ve ever seen,” Hall said. “I can’t get over the beautiful color, detail and composition of the painting, and the life-like accuracy he gives to each player — it looks exactly like them! I am proud to own this.”
In fact, Coach Hall liked it so much that last fall he approached Coach Cal to also authorize Blondell to create a similar, special print for UK’s 2012 title — to which Cal said “absolutely”! The end result, some 200 studio hours later: “Eight is Great”!
Upon previewing the unfinished version of it a few months ago, Calipari said “Man, that looks really good!” It’s going to look good on his wall, too: To increase the value of each print, Collectors will be interested to know that — just like Joe B. now owns Blondell’s original painting of the ‘78 championship — Coach Cal will also own the oversized, original oil painting of his ’12 championship.
Available starting at $2,500 (heavily-sought Numbers — i.e., #8 of 12 — and the Artist‘s Proofs are valued higher), it is a high-end purchase – but with the individual, certified signature of Coach Calipari on each print, the collector will certainly receive back the value on this unique memorabilia investment. Moreover, partial proceeds will benefit a charity of Coach Calipari’s choice.
“Eight is Great” is now available on CoachCal.com, or by going directly to BlondellArt.com. Since there are only 20 of them — and that the Numbered Prints are sold on a First-Come, First-Served basis — please go order now!! ($1,000 Deposit Required.)
