Oubre trims his list to eight schools

Kelly Oubre, one of the newer names on Kentucky’s 2014 basketball recruiting board, trimmed his list to eight schools this morning. The Findlay Prep star told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi he is down to┬áKansas, Florida, Kentucky, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, UConn and UNLV.

Oubre plans to take one of his five official visits to Late Night in the Phog at Kansas; the other four visits are still up in the air. He told Biancardi he may cut his list to five before the school year begins and he could sign with a program during the early signing period.

The 6’7” small forward is the 20th-ranked senior in the ESPN rankings. He received an offer from John Calipari and Kentucky following a strong showing at the Nike Peach Jam.

Hope we get any guy that Cal pursues, but he just looks like a Florida player. Don’t think he’s leaning that way, just looks to be in that line of awkward looking fellas, Noah, Walsh, etc.

#3 – I come here exclusively for basketball. I’d rather read about what Mudiay had for breakfast than all the football stuff.

Sure, some football news is cool. I like hearing when they pick up a new recruit, and SEC media day coverage is certainly acceptable, but at this point in the year I’m starved for basketball news. Any tidbit is welcome.
