Looks like we won’t get a renovated commonwealth… Williams will be possibly leaving the senate and then he can’t be blamed. Now that he is getting a divorce. Uncle Matt… you all need to do let’s do lunch and get the fakes.

Cal couldn’t help us get a coach directly, but remember his connections to Mike Tomlin. Maybe he’d put a good word to a name coach.

I posted this on the previous post, but it’s valid here as well: I understand that we are pretty much at the lowest point right now as a football program, but with the potential of big change coming at the end of the season(coaching staff,) on top of the very young team that we have coming back, I can’t help but be excited.

I know it’s taboo to talk about next year, but think about it. Next year is going to be the first year since I believe Woodson’s senior year, that there won’t be a change of the main position guys, (QB, RB, LB.) Add a new coaching staff with a refreshed, new feel, and there is some real potential there.

I’m starting to think Jokers mistake was excepting his 1st Div 1 Head Coaching gig at a school who is at the bottom of the BEST CONF. In FOOTBALL. That is set up for failure, I was HOPING he was going to take off from where Brookes left it, but that went down hill fast.

  34. Rockfield, KY

This guy is making a good freaking point. The senior class may have been Brooks’, but if a guy gets to his soph year, you know if he is going to be able to play or not. Going out to fill those holes is what a coach is supposed to do. A HC should be aware of a player not going to be good enough to play.

Our next coach would you want him to be a high scoring offensive coach? At least make it fun to go to the games like when Hal Mumme was the coach? I don’t think Kentucky will ever be a top tier team in the SEC so I least think putting points on the score board and taking risks will get the fan base back and excited.

He left and went to a JUCO and now plays for Lamar a D2 school not the fun boy from revenge of the Nerds. 2 Joker did not put all his eggs in Newton basket if he did Newton would have started over Hartline like many fans wanted. 3 how many games has Joker lost when he was the favorite and how many has he won as an underdog. Western may not lose a game and their last 2 losses in the past 10 games are to Bama and LSU. We need to get better but we are not as bad as some think.

    A question for Oscar:

Oscar, I am a student at Murray State, and the word is that one of our history professors, Duane Bolin, is writing a biography of Adolph Rupp. Supposedly he is going to include some personal information about Coach Rupp that paints him in a very negative light, especially concerning his personal relationships with his family and others around him. Do you think this is an accurate portrayal, and can you give us some insight as to the personality that was Adolph Rupp? Thanks!

It’s not just the level of preparation. What drives me crazy, and I think it is Joker’s biggest weakness, is the lack of ability to make adjustments during the game. How many times have we had a good first half, then watched the other team make adjustments to stop whatever we were doing successfully. A game plan has to have flexibility. It cannot be rigid. It has to ASSUME the other team will make adjustments and be prepared with counters to those adjustments.

That Fiesta Bowl was not close to the top tier, BCS or even Bowl Coalition bowl that is has now become. God Bless JD Reeves, Oscar. You know what’s crazy is uk football revenues was 19th in college football last year. Kentucky basketball revenues were 7th. To me it seems like we need to maximize our basketball revenues and renovate/reinvent rupp arena. If we were to renovate commonwealth and rupp arena we could eventually be on the levels of Florida and Ohio state (Texas is out of everyone’s league) which would be unbelievable for our university.

Bear is a legend and I’m glad he coached here, but let’s get over it. He played at Alabama and he was going to go home if they ever came calling, regardless of where he was coaching. No matter what, his time at UK was going to be limited.

“Bryant took over the Alabama football team in 1958. When asked why he came to Alabama, he replied “Momma called. And when Momma calls, you just have to come runnin’.”
