Orlando Antigua talks about new Cats, old Cats

“No, Rick, that ladies’ restroom is that way.”

Taking a page out of Oscar Combs’ Twitter Style Guide, sportswriter Jon Rothstein posted the highlights of a phone interview he did with UK assistant coach Orlando Antigua over Twitter yesterday. To save you from scrolling in reverse on his Twitter page, here are the highlights:

Orlando on…

Enes Kanter: “No one has been able to see his heart, determination, and will to compete. That’s what makes him who he is. He’s got extremely soft hands and he might not look it, but he’s deceptively athletic.”

Brandon Knight: “He’s as driven as anyone. He’s the hardest working guy around. Whoever takes him is set at point guard for 15 years. Coach Cal says it best: whatever you think Brandon’s best is, that’s what he’ll become.”

The 2011-2012 Wildcats: “It’s our job to get these guys to buy in. There’s no better at that than Coach Cal. We know kids all have their own personal goals but we have to get them to understand team is greater than everything.”

Marquis Teague: “He’s got John Wall type athleticism and a great feel for the game. We just need him to slow down a tad.”

Michael Gilchrist: “He can defend so many positions because he’s so competitive.”

Anthony Davis: “He’s a unique player. He can potentially play 3, 4, or 5 and he really rebounds well out of his area.”

Kyle Wiltjer: “He’s committed to winning because he wants to play with the best. He will be a high production glue guy.”

Excited yet?

There are times I just have to laugh at the rosters we have at UK… So much talent. What if there was a 2 year rule like in football! hahah

So Teague needs to slow down, Davis hasn’t figured out which position he plays, Gilchrist is only mentioned regarding defense and Wiltjer is a slow glue guy. This is disturbing news.

Don’t forget the experienced talent we have coming back too. We’re gonna be sick this year.

gasaway’s chat: Calling Harrelson jorts haha

How can UNC be considered the best team when UK is basicly the same team that beat them in the Elite 8 last year, and has became a better talented team with their recruits. Considering that UNC adds no real threat to aide thier shooting woes and is essentially the same team?

    John Gasaway (3:07 PM)

(Same team? Oh how quickly they forget Jorts! I guess Anthony Davis makes that possible.) UK is right there, certainly. But UNC will get the nod at No. 1 in preseason if for no other reason than their talent is more experienced.

is it just me or does the look Rod Strickland have seem to be the same one he has the majority of time?

UNC will have to fall to us twice -but the second time is more important.

I’m looking forward to the champions classic right now against Kansas. Self and Calipari have not met since 2008 should be a good one.
