Oregon has suspended running back Legarrette Blount for the entire season for his sucker punch on a Boise St. player who taunted him after the Ducks loss last night. And rightfully so. Because in a real world situation, Blount would be arrested for assault, but clearly on a football field, the law doesn’t apply.
But here is another question I have: Why isn’t the Boise player being suspended for taunting. While I think Blount’s suspension is deserved, I also think the Boise player deserved to get punched. And he deserves to miss the next game. But nope, instead coach Chris Peterson will “teach him why what he did was wrong”. No, seriously, that was the statement sent out by Boise officials. Make sure you make him stand in the corner too Chris.
