Oregon State Police love their football

Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris was pulled over and cited for driving 118 MPH earlier this summer. It was a minor piece of news in the Beaver State, but nothing any of us would find interesting. That is, until today when the video from the police car was released online. It turns out Harris wasn’t the only Duck in the car – he was with quarterback Darron Thomas and the officer let both men go despite a strong marijuana odor coming from the car. Oh, and this idiotic statement from Thomas:

Officer: “Who’s got the marijuana?”

Thomas: “We smoked it all.”

….

Officer: “You’re Cliff Harris?… The football player? And you’re Darron Thomas???”

The officer then asked to see their Pac-10 rings. Harris was given a speeding ticket and both men drove off without any record of Darron Thomas being in the vehicle.

Doesn’t it seem like Oregon football players stay in trouble?

Seems like the officer might be looking at some trouble now. 118 mph doesn’t that mean reckless driving?

Oregan cops must get paid quite well, because he didn’t even *ahem*, confiscate their weed.

The Indiana police once let Jimmy Chitwood off with just a warning under similar circumstances. Although, he was snorting dog enemas. Life isn’t fair if you’re not a ballplayer.

one things for sure if he was high at any point he damn sure wasnt after he got pulled over…thats the epitome of a buzz kill. you’d have to over come a strong case of nerves alone to pass a field sobriety…it’s funny how late/early it was. no doubt about though 118 is stupid when youre not smoking pot so it’s only dumber when you are. nice find

Drew, there wouldn’t be a “record” of Thomas being in the car, unless he got cited or arrested as well.

No big deal. Guy was actually trying to verify their identity when he talked about them being football players. One of the cops didnt even know who they were.

if that camera wasn’t on, this cop would offer to perform some fellatio on the whole car load because they’re football players . He looks back at the camera a couple different times with regret.

21- Cmon man. Those cops know the deal, if those kids were issued a weed citation they lose their scholarship. Oregon needs a long term scholarship suspension. At least

If that camera wasn’t on, the cop would offer to perform fellatio on the whole car load. he’s star struck by a couple of “college” athletes. He really wishes he had turned off that camera, as you can see it as he looks back a couple times with regret.

AFFLAK!!!!!!! I’ll be surprised if that officer even keeps his job, I mean c’mon pulling him over going 118 mph? His captain will at least suspend him for pulling over a football player in Oregon.

5- It’s not even a big deal in Kentucky anymore, if you don’t have a large enough quantity to prove trafficking you just get a ticket. I’m not sure if it’s law yet it might not start til the first of the year but I know it was passed recently. Also wasn’t D-Thomas in the car with Masoli when he got in trouble?

Occasionally cops are cool. My friend in high school, granted this was 20 years ago, was given a warning and let go after a cop caught him smoking pot in his car one night.

I understand that marijuana in Oregon is defacto legal, and actually applaud that, but DRIVING under the influence shouldn’t be…and especially at 118 mph. That program is the next Ohio State/Miami IMO.

Seriously? Smoking marijuana while driving is not a big deal? This guy was driving 118 mph while high on drugs. I am sure it is “no big deal” especially if there was one of your loved ones on the road that morning. Nah, no big deal!
