Wildcat fans have a one-stop shop for all their UK-logo combined with plaid needs: ukplaid.com. And as the Wildcat mascot shows us in the image above, plaid is so sheik!
Seriously, I’m all for supporting companies that license the UK brand. And it just so happens this plaid was designed by UK students:
The official plaid of the University of Kentucky was designed by students from the UK College of Agriculture School of Human Environmental Science’s Department of Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles (MAT). In the spring of 2008, over 12,000 UK students, fans, alumni and friends voted online to select the winning plaid.
UK Plaid is the University’s tailored tradition. The seven stripes in the plaid represent the seven NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships won by UK and the blue background is the pride the Commonwealth has for its flagship University.
If we can get them to sell some plaid t-shirts (or maybe a kilt or two), I’m calling for a full-on Big Blue Plaid-Out for the Alabama game. I want Burton Burns to say to Nick Saban, “Commonwealth Stadium! They’ve gone to plaid!”
