University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Operation Iron Snare is hilarious.

This video comes to us from Clay Travis’ new website, OutkickTheCoverage, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama used free Iron Bowl tickets to lure in twelve different people, and then arrested them for failure to pay child support. The unsuspecting fictional contest winners showed up to a football themed location complete with loud music and party favors to claim their prize, but were presented with a warrant for their arrest instead of tickets to see Alabama vs. Auburn. It’s genius.

“I am now a winner!!!!”

“Do I still get my tickets???”

Entrapment. If they are deadbeats, OK, but its a bitch if you have to pay child support and are self employed, the well dries up, and no one will hire you. Republicans suck.

I don’t find this hilarious at all. This just shows how no one can trust the police for any reason. You never know if you’re next – or for what reason.

This is totally effed up and makes me fell like I need a shower.

When the police are turned on you – and your money – ask yourself who will be laughing then, and what idiots all the laughing people must be because they’re not in your shoes.

And the best part of it all—put them in jail. Let’s see how much child support gets paid then.

This is not entrapment. “In criminal law, entrapment is constituted by a law enforcement agent inducing a person to commit an offense that the person would otherwise have been unlikely to commit.” These people already committed a crime and had warrants for their arrest. I find it much better that they did it this way than to spend months looking for these people. If you have children, and are not willing to support them then you deserve to be arrested. If you have children and are unable to support them then you should at the very least keep your court dates. These people had warrants for a reason,

  26. pji
    8:09 pm August 5, 2011 Permalink

How can it be entrapment? They have already committed the crime. Anyway, why must they humilate these guys? Just get them in the building, and arrest them. The way they treated the first guy is embarassing to police officers.

  32. Been There
    9:51 pm August 5, 2011 Permalink

26…..Sorry, but you are wrong. If you go through been through the wringer twice, it becomes a new offense. Then its a felony. If they trapped those people into a felony charge, it is entrapment.

Some people may deserve it. But, its pretty hard to take when you see your ex taking kids to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Hong Cong and Europe on your dime. Driving new Mercedes does not help. In the meantime, you totter on foreclosure and bankruptcy.

No one should get married until they are at least 35 and have some clue. All of those “hot chicks” that you all make so much of, they have an agenda. And Republicans still suck.

  33. DustinUK

Its pretty cold blooded to not just arrest them when they walk in the door. The whole dog and pony show is unnecessary.

This is kind of humiliating. I can understand if these guys were just greedy deadbeat dads not paying their share, but we don’t know that’s the case. Given their job situation, they may want to provide for their children, but may not be able to.

  36. Not Funny
    12:15 am August 6, 2011 Permalink

This is not the least bit funny, I am ashamed that this has been labeled as “one of the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while” by Drew Franklin. Sure, he still has a great since of humor, but this is just a bad judgement call. Sure they need to be taken into custody for the crime they committed, but not exploited over the internet and thrown into the public for humiliation. Indeed their actions are unjust, but the unexpected curveball is just not funny and should be called for in a prank show like “Punk-D”. This is real life and some people had kids to attain to, but obviously had not been doing a great job supporting them. This is just stupid and one of the more poor videos KSR has posted, and labeled “funny”.

    Hey Drew,

what if we showed you getting escorted out in front of thousands of fans on the jumbotron? Still not the same as this dumb*** excessively humiliating video, but you’d still be embarrassed.

Entrapment like the show Bait Car where they leave a door open to a car and the keys in the ignition and when you get in the car the doors lock on you and you’re stuck. Now thats entrapment.

As and Auburn grad and UK grad I love this. Every year some police or sheriff office in Alabama does something like this. Every year they snag a bunch of idiots. You think they would learn but they don’t. As for Clay Travis, he is not better than that fool Brooks. To put it in UK terms he is Pat Forde with a computer.

    @23, Huh? Surely you jest!

These folks broke the law, which means they commitd a crime, which means they are: CRIMINALS.

The reason for the sting operation was precisely because the criminals don’t trust the police.

Law abiding citizens are not invited to the ‘party’.

I submit that it is, in fact, hillarious to see these criminals get played like the have been playing the system to the detriment of society and, sadly – their progeny.

  42. Lecter

I have mixed feelings. I don’t like police entrapment ideas like this one. Plus the humiliation of the video. That said, all those “dads” should pay for their kids. We the tax payers have been doing it for them. This may have been the safest way for all concerned to cuff these dead-beats but throwing them in jail isnt going to get much money out of them IMO. I doubt they have a huge stash in the bank or the lawyers would have already found it. JMHO

Contrary to what softy mcsofterson #36 points out. If you are that big of a f*cking low life as to not pay your child support to the point where you have a warrant and are being arrested, you have lost all right to be respected and you deserve to be “exploited over the internet and thrown into the public for humiliation” contrary to what softy mcsofterson #36 points out.

Also, I am guessing the people who don’t find this funny or amusing are the most naive people in the world. You must think these people are just going to walk into the police station and confess to not paying their child support.

  44. Ira Tatum

@23, huh? Surely you jest? I submit that this is entirely hillarious. The invitees to the sting were in violation of the law which makes them: CRIMINALS. Criminals typically do not trust ther police. Hence, the invitation. I submit these folks got what they deserved; the Police played them like the have been playing society – and their progeny.
