On St. Patrick’s Day last, Perry flexed his bones.
–In news from earlier this week, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins were named to the final Wooden Award ballot. They are the only two freshmen on the list and, were one of them to win, would be the first Wooden Award winner in Kentucky’s history.
–In an interesting note from USA Today, it seems the Cats will be sans cell phones on the nights before their NCAA tournament games. It was a strategy that was employed during the SEC tournament and is designed to keep other point guards from calling John Wall to beg for mercy in advance. Or to minimize distractions for the team. Probably a little bit of both.
–And for those of you not satisfied with the simplicity of betting the games in the big dance, BoDog has odds on who will win the Most Outstanding Player award for the tournament. As of this writing, John Wall and Sherron Collins of Kansas sit atop the list at 5/1 each. Collins’ teammate and Bob Knight’s favorite player, Cole Aldrich, checks in right behind the pair of point guards at 6/1. Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins are each 15/1, same as Duke’s Jon Scheyer, West Virginia’s Da’Sean Butler and Jayhawk Xavier Henry. Other notable names include Wesley Johnson at 10/1, Evan Turner at 14/1 and the absolute steal of this list, Greg Monroe from Georgetown at 30/1. Place your bets, people.
