One last show before Spurrier (Friday Show Thread)

KSR listeners, you have two more hours to talk about how Kentucky is going to beat Steve Spurrier for the second consecutive time in Commonwealth Stadium tomorrow. Some of you will call in to suggest new coaches, but we really want to hear from the Chesters out there, the people who think the Cats stand a chance tomorrow.

The Gamecocks are going down.

Give us a call at (502) 571-1080.

I just wish Joker would grow some balls!!! Other coaches talk smack right in front of him on several occasions and Joker never says anything. He has no passion, no heart!!! You can’t let someone just disrespect you like that…It shows the players that you are an outcast and looked down upon by your peers. Not good.

Banning alcohol just creates a more dangerous situation… I envision a lot of 18 year olds in dorm rooms chugging vodka before they head over to Commonwealth. You can’t sit there and tell me that is not less dangerous than those same people sipping on beers out in the open. Same ideology applies to the dry campus — it needs to be reversed. UK has this backward philosophy that if they ban alcohol, then no one will consume it… they need to wake up. The schools that embrace the truth have much more success managing consumption.

The university and the police have some complicity in how big and out of control that tailgate got last week. It’s one thing to “allow” alcohol but when there complete disregard and people stumbling, throwing up and peeing in public they should step in and regulate slightly. The decision by Capiluto effects a lot more true UK fans who are there to enjoy the atmosphere and cheer the cats and not to just get liquored up and hit on coeds.

Matt, Jim Tressel’s Show Cause clause includes not only a period of 5 games in which he would have to sit out, it also includes a post season ban for the first year he coaches (including conference championships and bowl games). Final notes on this, Oppa Gangnum Style is essentially three parodies in one: 1. a parody of the southern district of Seoul, Korea which is generally perceived by Koreans and many other Asians as being sort of a combination of Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Baywatch–and sort of acts like it, 2. a parody of the Korean music, film and other media industries as well as other Korean celebrity scenes, all of which contribute to the image of “Gangnum Style”, and 3. a parody of the outsiders who fantasize about being as cool as they perceive those in Gangnum as being.

Every scene in Oppa Gangnum Style is based on some well-known funny or strange thing that has been seen in some aspect of Korean media. One of the cool things about OGS is that pretty much everyone featured in the video is a Korean idol, superstar or other type of popular celebrity. Many of them were a part of the original things being parodied in the vid. Essentially, they are all poking fun at themselves, the perception of Gangnum and the people who buy into that perception. The video is not intended to be offensive to anyone, but rather is done to make a point about the differences between reality and fantasy and provide everyone with an opportunity to have a good laugh at themselves.
