Kentucky football welcomes yet another visitor in town this week to check out the University of Kentucky and Saturday’s game against Florida, but unlike other visitors UK will host, he isn’t looking to commit to play football. He is John P. Wise, a New York-based writer who is chronicling the 2009 football season in a book to be entitled “One Great Season.” Wise is touring the country, checking out one campus a week throughout the 2009 football season. So far, he has been to Georgia at Oklahoma State, USC at Ohio State, and Michigan State at Notre Dame. Now, he’s in Lexington and I don’t know if he just got a flat tire on the way to somewhere else or what, but he is here and we’re happy to have him.
Wise’s visit is just another example of how far this program has come. A few years ago, UK would’ve been the focus for a college football blooper reel. Now we’re following The Horseshoe and Notre Dame Stadium in what could turn out to be a great book on college football. So for those that will be tailgating outside of Commonwealth on Saturday, let’s show John a good time on his visit and hopefully this chapter of the book will be titled “The Upset.”
