One Final Bubble Breakdown from CBSSports.com

With only a few hours left before the pre-bubble debate gives way to the post-bubble debate, CBSSports.com broke down 10 of the bubbliest of the bubble teams one final time. The ten resume’s are stacked up, showing how the numbers compare from school to school. Kentucky is of course included in the breakdown. While the popular belief is that the Wildcats will be on the outside looking in, the breakdown once again shows just how little separation exists between each of the teams. Depending on which dog you have in the fight, an argument (and a decent one at that) can be made for or against any of the teams. We won’t have to debate much longer…

“With one of the youngest teams in the country, Kentucky has overcome the adversity of losing its starting point guard (Ryan Harrow) in November, then having its starting forward (Willie Cauley-Stein) out for four games in SEC play before losing its best player (SEC Freshman of the Year Nerlens Noel) for the season. The team was 4-4 after Noel injury but defeated Florida and Missouri without him.”

Last predictions, folks. Who gets in? Who has to watch the NIT selection show later?

I tihnk a lot of people have been waiting for an opportunity to poke Caoch Cal in the eye, and this is their chance. Cats to the NIT. We’ll get ’em back next year folks.

So I’m watching ESPN bracketology and it has Boise State in but get this.. They have only 1win against a power 6 conference… Who might you ask? LSU… They are being praised for losing to Michigan state, unlv.. GTFOH

They try to poke him in his eye anyway. When we’re dominant it is only because he is a cheater and is paying top recruits and the turnover of talent and countless distractions along the way finally leads to a subpar year – than it is only evidence of him not being a good coach. People with hate constantly and it only shows that we are the most relevant team in college basketball and it will stay that way good or bad.

In addition to almost knocking off Michigan State in East Lansing, they also took New Mexico to OT and have wins over then #11 Creighton, San Diego State, and UNLV. They deserve to be in.

We do not deserve to be in. It is not sticking it to Cal. The players stuck it to Cal.

Hoops signees capped off undefeated season last night with state title. Guess that doesn’t merit at least a mention on KSR.

in willing to bet that people such as mudcreekmark, Mike, oldschool, and UK Freshman will not post here next year when were on our way to #9. And if they do it will be under different names giving praise to how good the guys are. IDIOTS

This season has been difficult to watch and predict, I don’t think we will picked, if we do, we will be one and done in the NCAA is that something to brag about this year? (Making the NCAA)
Cal just got caught with a thin bench, no point guard, and true freshmen without a leader, he has learned and will not be in the same situation again.

No one is predicting the cats are in and there isn’t a realistic argument to the contrary. We have performed miserably down the stretch, have piled up a number of “bad” losses, have proven we cannot win on the road, have a poor strength of schedule, have gone 4-4 in the post-Noel evaluation period, have demonstrated inconsistency and a lack of effort, and we were run out of the gym in the last game of our season. Which also happens to be in the first round of our conference tournament. One can spin it that the other teams on the bubble have been terrible as well but we have been worse down the stretch with more on the line.

Honestly, I’m not all that upset about it because this team is a terrible team to root for. They play atrocious basketball, they’re lazy, uninspired, and there is a 0% chance they would make any kind of run if they get in. If they did, by some miracle get in, it would only help to justify the unacceptable level of play, coaching, and recruiting and I would just as soon have the disappointment of not making the tourney hanging over the program as motivation for next year. We should really all just wash our hands of this mess and move on. The perfect situation for this squad is to have to go play in some small midmajor gym in the NIT and come out uninspired and selfentitled and get beat by 20 in a 2000 seat arena.

    Madness is in 6 months…

Lost to 15-16 Vandy by double digits when the chips were down…they ain’t gettin’ in. I hope I’m wrong and fan money talks, but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they get the call

Wondering where Matt Jones is on this day? Shouldn’t he be the most in the know of how this works since he went to the mock bracket thing? It would have been nice to hear what he truly thinks is going to happen. My guess is he knows we are out!

    10) I bet you must not have paid attention last year because I posted on here all the time and my posts were probably 99.999% positive. Those players had heart and they all thought team first. They are the kind of kids who knew what sacrifices it takes to play at a high level. This years team had no heart. If they would have played as hard as they could, and we still lost the games, I would have no problem with praising their efforts. But when you go into a game like the Vandy game and show no emotions what so ever, there is no excuse for it. Every team can have bad shooting games and get beat. However, when you give zero effort when you know you have to have a win to get a bid in the NCAA tourney then hell yell I’m going to rip their asses. I bet you like the new thing where they hand out trophies to everyone on all the teams at the end of the year so you won’t hurt someones feelings, don’t you?

#5 almost beating NM?! Almost beating MSU? Please.
Kentucky “almost” beat Duke and Louisville (two teams that are far better than MSU & NM) and has wins over then ranked #16 Ole Miss, Florida, and Mizzou (three teams that are far better than Creighton, SD State, & UNLV). If Boise St. played in the SEC, they’d finish somewhere between Miss. St. and Vandy.

Not going to go in whether we deserve it or not, but you can be assured that none of the talking heads are going to stick up for us. Jay Williams all day has been pumping UVA and Maryland. All I know is Lasalle and MTSU shouldn’t even be talked about, and why are Missouri, Minnesota, Whichita State and St Mary’s considered in? St Mary’s only good win is against Creighton. By the way Gonzaga and every Mountain West conference team are done in first weekend.

@7 but we beat LSU, Ole Miss (on the road), MD, FLA, MIZZOU (all tourney teams except for LSU/MD).. The team we lost to in the tourney (VANDY) we beat them twice. Their conference may have been better but they finished 5th with a 9-8 record. We have quality wins, everyone looks at the loses, we split with FLA, lost to ARK on the road (so did FLA), we lost to Tenn (after we lost Noel) our bad loss.. Come on, we played like rap but we deserve to be in!

@10 – I very much agree with #6. And I’ll also be right here next season because I love Kentucky basketball. What I *don’t* do is wear blue-tinted glasses and pretend that if you say anything negative about the team, then you’re not a fan. As much as I’ll miss cheering on the Cats the rest of the way, it takes more than just the name on the front of the jersey to get in the tournament and too often this season, the name on the jersey was the best thing this team had going for them. Not every team will live up to their potential. This just happens to be the most underachieving team under Calipari’s tutelage since he took over the program.

I’m with you no.14 on everything you said. This [so called] team doesn’t deserve a chance to play in the big dance!!! I’m also ready to move on to next year and have this season as an afterthought.I’ve watched less games this year than all the years combined that i’ve been a fan and that’s a long time.

To all in coming recruits or future recruits, if you are reading this please take note: when you come to play at the University of Kentucky please be prepared to be held accountable for your play. We don’t ask that you be perfect but what we do expect is to give 100% effort. If you give effort, and play for the team you will enjoy the fruits of being a UK basketball player. If you don’t play with effort and play for yourself and not for your team, you will feel our wraith!! All we ask is for you to honor the jersey you are wearing and no matter if you’re winning by 20 or losing by 20, still give it your all. Is playing hard too much to ask?
