He lost a National Championship to Bill Self if I recall correctly. But I tried to confirm my recollection on the NCAA website and it was weird because I couldn’t find who the runner-up was that year. Strange.
I may be wrong but I believe kansas is a one seed while john cal has taken an early vacation. Great job of getting randle but lets not act like we wouldn’t want to be where kansas is right now.
Has anyone seen our friend JT from Mt. Sterling? You know…the guy who relocated to Plano 10 years ago. The same guy that also predicted Randle to Kansas…
Hey drew just FY we lost out on Perry Ellis to KU last year so glad we got Randle in the mix but lets not act like we beat KU out for everyone, just the important ones hahaha
So is Derek Anderson really gonna wrangle up some vets to come and work with the guys this off season? (What he tweeted yesterday after the game.) I know last year’s team had a huge advantage in playing some pickup with Rondo, other NBA cats in for the alumni game, the Thunder one day, and then the DR national team.
If Anderson and some others (Mash?) could work with Archie, Alex, and Willie, plus the new guys, they could really get a boost beyond even what they’ll get with their intense practices and whoever’s doing grad assist work on the bench.
13) If Selby had come to UK, he’d have been suspended the whole year. Same goes for Bazz. I think Bennett had some issue, too, beyond grades. They’d not have caught breaks here. You know it’s true.
Right now, looking at roster and commits, I’m assuming Noel goes and all walkons back off schollie, everyone else returns. That’d give us 13. But if Harrow leaves and we don’t add Hawkins, who is the backup PG? Aaron Harrison? James Young? Archie? Walkon Polson?
(Each player listed once, walkons in paren)
1) Andrew Harrison/Harrow/(Polson)
2) Aaron Harrison/Goodwin
3) Young/Hood
4) Randle/Poythress/Wiltjer/Willis
5) WCS/Johnson/Lee
(Long, Malone, Lanter)
19 – I remember last year just fine. But its a bit ridiculous to be claiming some type of domination over a program that is clearly on par and that this year is lightyears better. Bragging about recruiting the day after being bounced from the NIT by Robert Morris is a bit ridiculous dont you think? But hey, its all you’ve got. I get it.
Hood and Polson names being listed in the depth chart. They’ll never see the court again cause Cal won’t let our team get back to the way it was this season.
35- Were KENTUCKY, you’re not. We have the best tradition in basketball, you do not. We have the best fan base, you do not.We have the best recruiter and recruiting class. You do not. Nuff said.
Kansas fans trolling here? Fanbase envy. KU is an incredibly weak one seed – two of the ‘wins’ stripe aided so bad the league apologized. Whoever takes the throne this year is a pretender. Go find your own Matt Jones, if the bleak wasteland that is Kansas can cough one up.
And Polson won the Maryland game for UK, and nearly won the NIT game. Will he play, you bet – and he’d be Uncle Jarrod. As we’ve seen this team needed Darius; next year’s will need Jarrod.
I would say that Poythress will fit in more as a SF and Marcus Lee as more of a PF and only a center if WCS leaves too. That would place the depth chart looking more like this if Nerlens isn’t back and WCS does stay:
1) Andrew Harrison/ Harrow (Polson)
2) Aaron Harrison/ Archie Goodwin
3) James Young/ Poythress/ Hood
4) Julius Randle/Marcus Lee/ Wiljier/Derek Willis
5) WCS/Dakari Johnson
(IRRELEVANT WALK-ONS)
This is 13 scholarshipped athletes. If schollys were to become an issue going forward, I would look for Cal to either not allow for Hoods medical redshirt 5th year to be under scholarship or to propose a redshirt year to Derek Willis. I would say the latter is more likely as Cal has been raving about Hood’s effort the last few months. This would allow for a little more guard depth which might be preferred over bigs depth if WCS does come back. Willis would obviously never see the floor, and atleast under redshirt he could benefit the team and himself by competing in practice for a year.
46) Probably, and if we go big, Randle could even end up at the 3 sometimes, like Poythress this year. Less likely in the DDMO, but possible, depending on the game.
You should know that redshirts still count toward your count of 13, so you can’t discount Willis. Hood and Harrow were both counted toward our 13 last year, as was Poole, which was why we couldn’t take Stokes (plus Polson and maybe Beckham got extra schollies last year. If Poole had made his decision to transfer before the season, Stokes would have been part of our team.) If Cal recruits anyone else (Gordon, Wiggins, Hawkins, etc), then more than Noel need to go pro, Hood or Harrow only get invited back as Walkon, or someone transfers.
Where is the haha guy from indianus today? We are laughing today. Number 9, you other losers need not show up for a game next year. Could it be the 40-0 year cal wants?
@44 Really…KU doesn’t compare to UK? Look I bleed UK blue and white but give respect where respect is due. They are 8 games behind us right now for total wins…they arguably have the best arena environment in CBB(I wish RUPP would get that loud all the time but it won’t as long as the blue hairs are still there)and they have maybe the second best recruiter in the nation who happens to be a pretty dang good coach.
54. I think it’s 12 but your point stands. I respect a kid down to UK/KU. It shows he is serious about his game and is trying to choose a school that will make him a better player. I find the choosing between a smaller program and UK rather weird.
Here’s a big question for you: If we need one more scholly, Hood graduates in May. Does this open up another scholarship if he were to graduate and move on?
Lets not get too big for our britches. Bill self has his team ready at the end of the season every year. Just because we won the title game with a much better team doesn’t really prove anything. The sample size is just too small;however, Kansas is primed to make a run every year. I would trade cal but you have to give Kansas, as a program, respect. (Same for Michigan state and duke in my estimation)
Uhh who did self beat in 08? Memphis coached by Calipari? Who has never been to the NIT in his 10 years @ ku and who just lost in the first round of the NIT?
60 Comments for One day, Bill Self will learn not to go up against John Calipari
Simply awesome.
Haha, well done, Drew. Photoshop strikes again! Bill Self would look like that, though, which is scary.
Drew did you use the top of Kevin Stallings head on this?
Hahaha! Excellent work Drew.
That has to be pulled from a Stallings pic.
3- Nice.
Rock Cha…..or wait, he picked Kentucky? …..ever Kansas fan two hours ago….hahahahahaha
Confession: I really did use a photo of Kevin Stallings for the top of his head.
haha…i thought that liver blotched dome looked familiar…
First off great pic, second… we did lose Perry Ellis to Kansas. He would have looked good on this years squad.
Nice work Drew
CAL IS THE MAN! IN CAL WE TRUST! GO CATS!!
Perry Ellis, Xavier Henry, Josh Selby? Just sayin…
BBM can’t get here fast enough! CAL go get Wiggins, rub it in alittle! GO CATS!!

#13 and where are they now?
15- Didn’t Self lose one to Cal more recently? Like, last year? Why don’t you look that one up?
#15 ok ,but he did beat self last year, They got the BANNER hanging in rupp if you need proof! GO CATS!!
Hey drew just FY we lost out on Perry Ellis to KU last year so glad we got Randle in the mix but lets not act like we beat KU out for everyone, just the important ones hahaha
#17 can’t find him or his wife anywhere…. trolls. Kansas never had a shot! GO CATS!!
Just like Kansas shot at winning this years ship, NO shot in hell…. GO CATS!!
18 –
Ellis – 1 Seed
Henry – D-League (I think)
Selby – D-League
Look, I’m just saying they havent all gone the Cayts way against Self. Be real.

Good question, where is JT from Mt. Sterling? I believe JT was seeking his 15 minutes of fame. It turns out that he never knew Randle or his mother!
Cal just this year vs Self ( Harrison Twins, Randle, Young) just saying
Siva just said, I’m glad to be playing in Rupp, but I’m thankful it’s not against Kentucky. I don’t do well against them”
Don’t worry, Bill Self(ish), you didn’t really lose Randle to UK in recruiting…you just ran out of time.

#24 no he’s not gonna get them all, we’ve seen that. But Cals record against self is better than the other way around.
I’m glad UK isnt an Adidas school. Even the windbreaker is ugly.
How many blocks you all think our our team will have next year?
29. Excellent!
This makes me want to break out Husker Du’s Flip Your Wig LP.

“UK did not beat us for Julius Randle. We simply ran out of time.” Bill Self
Totally thought that was Kevin Stallings at first!
Hood and Polson names being listed in the depth chart. They’ll never see the court again cause Cal won’t let our team get back to the way it was this season.
Julius Randle twitter is exploading right now!!!

All also I have nothing else to do but come to your website and try to troll even though I REALLY suck at it!

Nathan, Redshirts still count against the scholarship limit.

JT & his main squeeze are AWOL! Where in the world is JT?
Am I the only one who thought it was Mr Belding?
Why did i bet my herpes?
Where did you find a picture of me wearing a Kansas jacket?
