If a person’s spouse was indicative of their soul, then Bruce Pearl would be married to a 350 lbs 60 year old Tuesday afternoon stripper that uses a steel pipe as a stripper pole in her run down trailer.

Which makes you wonder what Mrs. Pearl looked like pre-op. To quote Yoda, “Enough silicon, in the world there is not.”

i hate tennessee, but i wish he was able to keep coaching. He is good for the SEC

as much as i’ll love seeing tennessee struggle for the foreseeable future, the sec will miss pearl’s personality and coaching ability. the future does look bright for alabama and arkansas though.

    That whole interview was photoshopped!

Personally I find Bruce Pearl very entertaining. I think he was a good fit at Tennessee because UT stayed competitive in the league but they were never really a threat to UK.

Yep, agreed, he’s a douche. “Let me be an example, and LEAD by example.” You gotta be kidding me. Bruce Pearl…leading by example… in the D-League.

Pearl is my favorite “non-Calipari” coach. He’s very good, and very entertaining. I’m rooting for the guy.

He is very charming and charismatic in person. He is a great interview. Having said that he is of low character for lying and encouraging his staff to lie as well as the recruit and his parent.

Now with that said, it is a lame rule as the coach’s home, provided it is within so many miles of the campus, should be considered a part of the university and as such available to a recruit on an unofficial visit.

I can see taking guys off campus to expensive restaurants, clubs, strip joints, concerts, etc. But the coach’s home should be considered a part of the campus.

He is much more palatable now that he’s gotten the “orange monkey” off his back. I wish him the best.

I always liked Bruce Pearl. I don’t like Tennessee but I could appreciate that he was definitely a good coach and had plenty of personality.

He made a very dumb mistake and then lied about it, sure, but I agree when he said he was good for college basketball. He was certainly entertaining and his teams were usually fun to watch. Ironically I remember rooting for them over Cal’s Memphis teams at the time (in hindsight that seems pretty dumb but UT is SEC and I’m willing to admit I wasn’t a Cal fan until he came here. But what did I know?).

He has paid enough for it… hope he gets back into coaching. As much as I hated him at Tennesse, you can’t deny that he is a good coach based on what he did there

Bruce doesn’t get it. It isn’t about him “not being correct on two questions.” It is about him knowingly do what he shouldn’t do, lying about, coordinating with the assistant coaches to lie about it, calling the recruits and their familties to get them to lie about it … then continuing to suggest that well, yeah, it is sorta your fault but it shouldn’t be that big a deal … and now I am going to go out and do more recruiting violations.

Slimy. Sleazy. Bruce doesn’t get it.

#20-didn’t coordinate with his assistants to lie about it, because he didn’t know a photo existed, and he wasn’t interviewed first.

and that bump last September shouldn’t even be a violation (and won’t be for long) according to the SEC commish.

Why isn’t more made about the coach who gave the NCAA the photo? Will that person be blackballed in coaching for years like Pearl was????

Bruce and UT were made for each other.

I wish Pearl was still at UT, it made the league better and more interesting. He lied so he you can’t argue with his firing but I dont relish it like some UK fans.

Pearl’s biggest weakness is that he can still not admit his mistake. Reminds me of my kids when they were teenagers. The “I only lied on two occasions really got to me.” Okay, Bruce, the problem is that you LIED – not how much, not how often. He confessed once he knew they had him by the basketballs!!!! He always says “now I know I should tell the truth all the time.” Honestly, don’t all of us know this already.

I think he was a fun coach – but, until he really admits to his mistakes, I think he is hard to forgive.

Not gonna lie. I will miss Pearl at UT. He’s a likeable and hateable guy at the same time and is the perfect villian for UK/Calipari. Hopefully he will land on his feet somewhere.

I also hated to see Bruce go. Tennessee was becoming as close to a Sure Win as anybody we have had on the schedule in a long time. Do we have a better record (6-1) against any other SEC team over the past three years?

  30. MTW

#21. He tried to get the recruits to lie about it. Which is much worse than coordinating with his assistants to lie about it.

I hope the NCAA hammers his greasy a$$. He was not good for the SEC. He is a convicted cheater, not just alleged. Let him go coach in the D-League. Maybe he can hook up with Scotty Hopson again.
