Oh Boyd! (Monday Show Thread)

(@ACRPhoto)

Aaron Boyd will be a hot topic on this morning’s radio show after the senior wide receiver had a breakout game against Kent State over the weekend. Boyd caught 11 passes for 100 yards, including his first career touchdown, in Kentucky’s win over those Golden Flashes.

The offense looked good. The defense looked meh.

Matt and Ryan are on air to talk about it.

Ok I dont know who all saw the UK game but I got 2 things from it.

#1 – Johnathan George needs to be the starting HB. The kid is big, strong and capable of getting the ball 25-30 times a game. He looks unlike any other UK TB we have ever had. His vision, burst and strength is Alabama caliber… once he gets to the 2nd level he is looking to RUN OVER a DB. UK Football has never had that… look at the good teams UK has had in the past… the RB’s were Little and Locke… they were constantly dinged up because they were smaller backs, not every down Backs. George is, the George-Sanders combo has the makeup of the Lendale White-Reggie Bush makeup…. thunder/lightning. If Boyd continues his ways he could be a TOUGHT WR. Friggin 6’4 200lbs…

#2 – WHAT DEFENSE is Minter trying to play. It looks like a form of Tampa 2… but the LB’s we have are not “cover LB’s”. Bud Dupree is a BIG/PHYSICAL LB… you dont put him in coverage… you turn him loose. But I do LOVE the hit by Neloms!!! He walloped that dude!

Can the difference between the WRs this year versus last year be the WR coach? Tee Martin may be a great recruiter but not a great coach. Sister-in-law had french fries in her car that started to grow shoots which means they were ready to be planted. Nasty.

  38. Shane
    10:19 am September 10, 2012 Permalink

The difference in Harellson and Boyd is that JH was never supposed to be all that good and when he turned out to be a diamond in the rough, it was a pleasant surprise. AB was the star of his recruiting class. 4 star WR than never performed and then on top of that you see all these tweets about him going out in Lexington and I think ppl just saw that as him not working hard or taking it serious.

He constantly calls us and Alabama fans the dumbest fans in the country, and constantly talks about Auburn paying Cam Newton like its a fact that it happened. This idea that attendance numbers will affect UK’s potential to get a good coach is overblown. A potential coaching-hire will understand why attendance had been low. WKU is like UL Junior. After this series is over, we do NOT need to renew it.

233 — Not really. Gillispie recruited him and if it wasn’t for Billy then Josh would have been at St. Louis and certainly would never have been on Cal’s team.

We will have a much better offense this year against WKU. Morgan Newton was qb against WKU last year.

238 – They just need to develop a Corner opposite of Robey… The D-Line is better than anticipated and Silas Redd looked like a stud. We have a big problem if our Center Khaled Holmes is out… he had to be carted off and is in the running for the best center in the NCAA. And Kiffin is keeping his playbook very tight… not wanting to give conference teams any film to watch.

Has there ever been a caller who WASN’T a “long-time season ticket holder”. An even better question is, why do they feel like they need to say they are.

    1860 – 1st Gas Powered Automobile

“A Frenchman named Etienne Lenoir patented the first practical gas engine in Paris in 1860 and drove a car based on the design from Paris to Joinville in 1862. His one-half horse power engine had a bore of 5 inches and a 24 inch stroke. It was big and heavy and turned 100 rpm. Lenoir died broke in 1900.”
