Where has Julius’ game gone?…. Hate to say that a under sized guard from a mid-major program is the key to UK’s success. In the last two games he was not a contributor at all, cause of great defense. never thought i would see a UK team struggle so bad to score.

#6…What is Cal suppose to do? Break down and cry? Punch Mark Fox in the face? After the game I was so disgusted that I was laughing too. I mean what can ya do? It’s embarrassing by our standards but this team is what it is… We knew coming into this game that they aren’t good enough to make a NCAA run. We have all been hoping JUST TO MAKE THE DANCE. But…we just aren’t a good team…

I mean what do you do? This team has issues. Alex and Archie are playing like …freshmen. We have been spoiled with some of the super freshmen we have had. This team has a low basketball IQ. Our freshmen haven’t blossomed like the previous freshmen Cal has brought in. We have nothing offensively or defensively that we can hang our hat on. We are really really limited.

The highlight of our spring will be the UK football’s Spring Game…LOL

I have never seen a team with so many players that have zero basketball I.Q. You cannot have that many guys on the floor that has no idea how to make basketball plays for each other. Wiltjer, Polson and Hood are the only ones that know how to play the game. Hoods basket in the first half was brilliant. We can post Wiltjer up and no one knows how to exploit the double team when it comes. They just stand still and wait while Wiltjer struggles to find someone to throw it to.

Cal praised Hood in the postgame about his hustle and effort and has been talking him up in the last several weeks about his performance in practice. He gets seven minutes tonight- most of them in the first half. He gets 4 points and 3 rebounds in limited minutes – and sees the court for what – maybe two minutes in the second half?

    Players First!

This year is on Cal. Cal’s done a great, great job up ’til this year – but this team is beyond him. This team needs a boot up the arse – and that’s not in Cal’s arsenal.

Goodwin, Proythress, and Harrow needed multiple games on the bench – and the rest needed to go out and lose with Goodwin, Proythress, and Harrow on the bench. But that kind of tough love just isn’t in Cal. Cal’s drags kids along – and it worked with Jones, Teague, etc… when it was one or two kids, and he had other options. This year – just too many head-cases with too few other options.

And yeah – his “I like my team” schtick was played thin. And he’s going to “like them” at the NIT, and the NBA draft … because to do anything else would tarnish the “players first” image that’s really great to watch when it works.

And really shitty when it don’t.

NO ONE on the team shows significant basketball IQ. These players are sooo weak. I look forward to football.

Problem is when you start 2 guys who are strictly spot up shooters in wiljter n mays and have no one who can drive the ball (besides Archie, but who are we kidding) they never are open. So you basically play 3 on 5 on offense with poythress maybe or maybe not paying any attention to what’s going on. Team just didnt fit this year guys it’s not on cal or anybody but them, wen you have a whole new team every year it’s inevitable you are going to have some teams that just don’t click

I’m looking forward to the players we have coming in next year as well, but after this year I am still going to temper my expectations. The biggest issue with this year’s team is there is no Lamb, Jones or Miller coming in to steady the ship during the storm. This team plays like what they are – freshmen! They wilt on the road, and they (generally) play better at home when the crowd supports them. However, to add to their youth, they just don’t have any attitude, any piss & vinegar in their veins to go after their opponent like a pit bull when they get punched in the chops. Wiggins or not, anyone predicting a 40-0 season is dreaming if we don’t bring some experience back, and I’m not sure if we want any of these guys playing for us again next year. Let’s just say they will have a LOT of growing up to do!

I think the Harrow lashings, by Coach, early in the year, doomed this team. They were necessary, but they doomed the team. The poor kid looks lost on EVERY possession. I am not defending Harrow, but I do actually feel bad for him. Polson, has the fire in his belly to play the PG position, just not the gifts to play it. The stats that are crazy to me: 1.) 4 Guards, played a combined 112 minutes with 2 assists, and half of those came from the bench [sarcasm intended]. 2.) 6-26 from 3PT vs. 7-15 3PT, why when we have length [WCS] and supposed strength with Poythress, are we jacking 3’s, no one is putting up 3 posters in their gymn, and Taco Bell isn’t giving away from Taco’s for 10-treys.
I cannot figure out why Coach won’t coach a zone. This team could have had flow on offense, but it would have required playing slower players, which would mean adjustments on the defensive end. If Brad Stevens and Shaka Smart can figure that out, surely Coach could have. Some times, I feel that his unwillingness to coach a zone, makes the zone ineffective. But for all we know this team is full “rock” headed players that don’t listen.
I am enjoying the season over all, and have no complaints with the overall state of Kentucky basketball. We really do have it good, when you croak about 20-10, and at worst a 20-12 season, you know your spoiled. One mediocre, three good, would be nice to get that result for the rest of Coach’s time here.

    Go Cats!

We have a player on the team that is shooting 50% from the field, 45% on threes, is averaging 9.6 points per forty minutes of play,8 rebounds per forty minutes and less than one turnover per forty minutes of play.Want to guess who that would be? Jon Hood. So all you bashers out there, what has Hoood done to hurt this team? I’m not saying he should be starting or playing 30 minutes a game but when the other players are sucking why not bench them and play Hood a few minutes.

Cal should take some blame. Never recruited 4 year good players, convincing players to go pro who shouldn’t go pro (teague, Lamb). We are losing kids to bottom first round/second round while all other schools are keeping these Fresh/Soph. I get Cal sales going to the NBA but he really needs to convince kids to leave college when your going to ride the pine in the NBA for years and bounced around to d-league. Lamb/Teague could have made much more money in the draft this year. I’m not sitting the bench making 6-7 figures so what do I know
