Dominique Ferguson may have had the tendency to underwhelm from time to time on the court but, off the court, he never failed to shock and amaze. From making an early commitment to Billy Gillispie, to decommitting when the Cats brought in a more high-profile coach, to saying that he hadn’t ever seen Coach Cal’s offense ran, to finally saying that he was studying up on the offense via You-Tube.
Jeff Goodman reports that Dominique has committed to Isiah Thomas and Florida International and it has reached the point that the world is really not all that shocked. Makes you say hmm, but not shocked in the way that you would expect to be. Admit it. You’re weirded out, but Dominique has gotten us all past the point at being shocked at anything he does.
UK had pursued the forward, who took a little plummet in the national rankings this summer, but it never really seemed to be full bore. They were not in attendance at any of his games in Vegas, to my knowledge. Duke and Arizona were making the strongest recent pushes but offers had not yet been extended.
According to Jeff Goodman, Dominique recently spoke about his new head man Isiah, saying “If Isiah Thomas had been at a big-time school, I’d be going with him.” Dominique made it well known today that he’d go with Thomas no matter what school he was at. Goodman’s article also quotes Scout analyst Evan Daniels in saying, “Its pretty unheard of for a mid-level program to go in and get a guy that’s currently ranked in the top 20-25.”
Before UK’s former top commitment in the class of 2010 goes to play with the NBA legend at sunny Florida International, Dominique will attend Hargrave Military Academy, after transfering from Lawrence North in Indiana. Read that sentence again. Just odd.
