UPDATE: KROGER AGREED TO PAY

Like Matt said, BBN doesn’t take kindly to corporations that welch on their bets. It doesn’t even matter if they are the official grocer of UK Athletics or not, wrong is wrong. Anyway, Matt will be on 84 WHAS to take your calls about Occupy Kroger, Drew’s Kirstie Alley Challenge or even the basketball game, just click here to listen. As always, call (502) 571-8484 to tell Matt how much you love him.

*** In what  is surely a testament to the power of the BBN, Kroger has agreed to pay our friend Vincent Swope. All is well in the world again!

BS. If his toe was over, he gets NOTHING! NADA! Zip! The right thing to do is say… “NO CASH FOR YOU!” because he simply didn’t do what he was supposed to do.

I’m totally with 3. The guy plays by the rules or he gets nothing. It’s ridiculous to think that he should get paid if he wasn’t behind the line. What about free throws and 3-pointers; should they count if the toe is on the line? Get real.

    Two things –

1 – I agree Kroger should pay. Who cares if his foot touched the line or not? That would be like a parent not letting his kid win during a game of checkers.

2 – I don’t care if Kroger pays him or not. The dude’s parents are big shots and I’m sure that played a role in him being picked. Who cares about a rigged contest? If Kroger has a sale, I’m still buying from them.

    18) Did this guy steal your girlfriend? That’s the 3rd or 4th time you’ve felt it necessary to claim his parents are “big shots” and the contest was rigged. Post some facts instead of opinion or STFU.

  22. gog8ors
    7:18 pm January 7, 2012 Permalink

Rules are rules. The foot was definitely on the line so that is that. If he were behind the line and sank the shot and Kroger didn’t want to pay it would be different. Sorry but he didn’t meet the qualifications of winning the money per the rules. Simple as that.

It doesn’t matter who wins, everyone gets a trophy, it’s just for fun, so what if the rules were not followed……He hit a great shot. His foot was on the line. That was the contest rule. No money. Point Blank Period!

Contests like this are usually underwritten by an insurance company. Kroger’s insurance broker will be the one denying the payment.Kroger probably paid a $500-$750 premium for the policy

  52. Joe

WTF? There was no line, first of all. And second of all, the point is MAKING a “half court” shot. It’s not like he took 3 giant steps and took a 25-footer. He took a legitimate half court shot. If it were a basketball game, the legendary play by play call would be officially, “he nailed a half court shot”. An inch or two didn’t make a difference. And the dolts out there who f-ing argue otherwise are letter-of-the-law low lifes who would stone their mother. When playing horse, what a-hole would argue that the person’s shot wouldn’t count because he was an inch or two on the line. Sure, there might be people who would argue, and that’s when you take your ball and play elsewhere.

    Shop Meijer indeed.

And if it’s insurance company not paying, publicize their name and make them pay the price for being jerks. No doubt, if they’re making $700 in premium (x how many events??), they’ve made a killing. They’ve figured a made shot into their algorithm, so pay up and shut up.

  53. Pcefrog5
    8:00 pm January 7, 2012 Permalink

Technically his foot would have to be on the line
For it to be a true “half court” shot. Anything over
Or behind the line is not half court so pay the man
    His money
