New Orleans offers an invitation

The folks down in New Orleans seem to be in a good mood lately, thanks in large part to a product of the Commonwealth. My initial thoughts were somebody had a load of Bourbon shipped directly to Hornets247’s compound, but on closer inspection, it appears they just enjoy their basketball. Either way was good for me.

Anthony Davis and Darius Miller will make up 1/6th (or 2/12th’s as the blog puts it) of the Hornets roster next season, so they propose that we Kentucky fans officially adopt the Hornets as our NBA team.

But I think plenty of you guys are way ahead of them. I’ve seen more yellow and creole blue No. 23 jerseys around town in the last week than I ever saw Wall for the Wizards. We’re certainly a fan of any team a former Cat plays for, but if we had to pick just one…

What kind of invitation would be official without a petition? The blog is seeking a mere 23 signatures; let’s see if we can’t help them out.

Dear Kentucky Basketball Fans,

You have a lot to be proud of, a lot to keep you busy. But look, Anthony Davis is a Hornet now and we’d love for you to adopt New Orleans has your NBA city of choice. Remember how much fun you had on April 2nd, 2012?

Thanks,
@ChrisTrew

We miss Anthony Davis, so we should be friends. Let New Orleans know what you want.

    With all the UK flavor currently in the NBA… nah, I can’t pick just one. Kinda like a parent asked to pick which kid is your favorite? shhh!

    Or maybe Anthony can just convince ownership to move the team to Louisville, guarantee a sell-out crowd for every game if Davis and Miller were on the team

    Well, okay. Since you asked nicely. But only until Kentucky gets their own “Pro”gram or the 2013 class goes pro.

    Signed the petition and then was asked for a donation. Odd. Can’t they just pimp Final4Prints like a normal website?

    Tell the Hornets to give reduced admission prices to those with KY drivers license or wearing UK gear!

    Everyone wants to reel in the big fish TV audience known as the Big Blue nation. Forget about it, never going to happen – people in Kentucky are loyal to the KENTUCKY Wildcats for a reason. UK is the main university of the Commonwealth and has a history. New Orleans was where we won 1/8. It takes a lot more than that to steal away a good chunk of our viewership. Maybe bring some NBA championships to the Commonwealth with a major former UK player leading the way and we’ll talk.

    UK fans are what they are. There isn’t an NBA team that is “UK’s team” and there never will be. The notion that the Hornets are Kentucky’s team or anything like it is laughable. I can’t imagine any UK fans pumping their fists if Austin Rivers dunks on Cousins unless they are real Hornets fans. If the Hornets played the Rockets tandem of PPAT, Jorts, and Terrence Jones than its not like UK fans would MUCH PREFER the Hornets or Rockets.

    If Darius doesn’t start asserting himself, he might not make the team. We went to watch him yesterday, and he was awful. Jae Crowder was really whipping him. Teague didn’t play well, either. All in all, not a great day at the Summer League for the Cats.

    Did the Hornets do some airbrushing to create a space in the unibrow? I see two distinct brows.

    If Davis wants to be the man in New Orleans he needs to get with the Swamp people and catch a gator. Anthony Shoot it Shoot it.
