Nerlens Noel met with the finest media members Lexington has to offer this afternoon to discuss the status of his torn ACL and his decision to enter the draft. He opened things up by repeating what he said on radio last week, that his rehab is going well and he’s way ahead of schedule. He hopes to be back on the court some time around Christmas.
Noel said he isn’t paying attention to all the pre-draft talk but being the No. 1 overall pick would be a dream come true. He credits the Big Blue Nation as a reason he considered a return, but at the end of the day, he was ready to declare for the draft.
“I feel like I’m ready for that part of my life,” he said.
Willie Cauley-Stein was also a topic of discuss in Noel’s final media appearance at UK. Nerlens called his former teammate a freak of an athlete and he expects him to be one of the best big men in the country next season.
“He has all the tangibles to be great,” he added.
In closing, Noel praised Calipari for the work he does to put guys in position to chase their dreams. He said no coach in the country preps players like Cal and that’s why he recruits at such a high level.
“I love Coach Cal.”
Don’t we all?
