Nerlens Noel ‘MVP of Peach Jam’ According To Zagsblog (And Check Him Out Tonight)

Nerlens Noel is a name you know by now – and it’s a name you’re going to be hearing a lot in the future.  Noel came into the Peach Jam pretty high, but few were familiar with him, his game, and his flat top until he made himself a blocking machine over the past week.  Because of that, Adam Zagoria hands the Kentucky (and others) recruit the Peach Jam MVP – because they don’t actually give one away.

Here’s what he had to say on the 2013 Center:

In one game against CIA Bounce, Noel swatted away 12 shots.

Noel, who attends the Tilton (N.H.) Schools, is part of a trio of uber-talented members of the Class of 2013 here, along with Julius Randle and Jabari Parker. But if you ask coaches which player they would take first in a draft, many go with Noel.

“I’ll take Noel,” one high-major assistant said. “He can dominate without having the ball. You can put players around him who can score, while the other two have to have the ball.”

Noel is hearing from a Who’s Who of schools but mentioned Kentucky, Florida, Syracuse, UConn and Providence among schools who have reached out.

“It’s just a dream come true to be getting all this attention from colleges,” he said. “I’m just waiting it out to make that final decision.”

He said he’s not close to deciding.

If you want to read more about Zags decision, you can do so here.

Also, don’t forget, if you want to see Noel in action you can do that on ESPNU starting at 7 pm.

The NCAA paints with too broad a brush. The kid is right, they don;t give a damn about the student athlete.
