Nerlens Noel: “Fine Academically”

Today during a UK convention in Franklin, Ohio, Associate Athletics Director of Basketball Operations, Chris Wollard, was asked about the academic status of 2012 recruit, Nerlens Noel.  In news that is a relief to Kentucky fans everywhere Wollard stated that Nerlens is currently “fine academically.”  The announcement was brought to the world via Larry Vaught’s Twitter.  This is not an official University statement, but it’s certainly a good tidbit to hear in the uncertain times when he has not yet arrived on campus.

Larry Vaught is a joke. His source was probably Eddie Montgomery.

Academics were never the real worry. The issue the staff is concerned with is with his handlers. The ncaa is still looking at this. Don’t look for him to be cleared in the near future. This will drag out.

4 – No, the whole issue as to why he is not on campus is because he reclassified and had to crunch all of the rest of his hours of high school into this summer. He has never had any LEGITIMATE handler/academic/eligibility issue that will keep him off campus past the geginning of august. This has been the plan since he reclassified.

Making shit up and posting your name as IN THE KNOW to try and have somebody think you know something that they dont is reprehensible, sad, and downright embarassing.

    4) heard basically the same thing. The academics are one issue and it appears this hurdle has been cleared. The ncaa is still looking into his recruitment. Hopefully, this gets resolved soon.

I hope noel gets cleared, but to say the ncaa is not looking into the people around nerlens would be wrong. Just google his name and ncaa investigation. Hope it gets cleared up soon.

Quote from Bleacher Report “According to Pete Thamel of The New York Times, the investigation sounds standard and fairly minor.”

If even Thamel says there is nothing to it then there is really nothing but the formality of doing due diligence on the top recruit.

Let it drop with the investigation crap.

Its being looked into because he is best player going to Uk

Just search Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, and Davis they all got looked at for the same reasons

Everyone wants to be the one that finds something on Jon V. Cal and it aint gonna happen at UK.

I myself was nervous when we first signed him up….but UK is college basketball right now and if you are good thats where you wanna go. The elite players who wanna go anywhere else besides 3/4 other schools want to be “the man” and take the while pie. We dont want that guy here anyway. If Cal stays 10 yeas this is gonna go down as one of the best decades in college bball history. 10% of NBA draft have been UK kids since cal got there.

middle schoolers are on youtube calling UK dream school

I’d be more optimistic about Noel’s eligibility if there weren’t so many stories designed to reassure everyone that he’ll be eligible.

He doesn’t know how to read but will be able to make it through 1.5 semesters at UK. Good thing the state’s funding focuses on academics instead of athletics…oh wait, it doesn’t.
