Need a Winner? Insert Mark Coury

You remember Mark Coury dont you? He was the awesome guy who started every game during his Sophomore year and had the same “rinse and repeat” performance. (If you forgot, it was start the game….play hard for two minutes…attempt to score on whoever was guarding him, no matter the size or situation…head to the bench and cheer for the rest of the game). I admit that I was quite a fan of Mark Coury. Whether it was the funny quotes, the crazy hair or the amazing high school photo that we ran on this site forever, Coury always entertained me. When he left to go get a scholarship elsewhere, I cheered him on…of course he went to Cornell, which I am not sure give scholarships for basketball, but regardless it was a great moment.

But now that he is at Cornell, something strange has happened. Coury has become a contributor on a team that is pulling upsets. The Fighting Andy Bernards beat Alabama in their first game and then two nights ago, defeated UMASS by 13 on the road. So thats two major opponents on the road and two victories. Coury for his part is averaging 4 points and 4 boards a game and is solidly in the Big Red rotation.

So give a cheer for Mark Coury…a former Cat who I will always remember…and as the picture below shows…the man knows how to win awards!
