Nebraska’s Braylon Heard about to transfer to Kentucky?

HEARD, BRAYLON 1429

With a week until spring football, the good news just keeps on coming. Braylon Heard, a sophomore running back at Nebraska, has decided to transfer, and it appears that Kentucky is very high on his list. Heard is from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, which should sound very familiar to you by now since it’s the alma mater of both Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow, who was on Nebraska’s staff prior to leaving for UK. Coming out of high school, the four-star Heard was ranked the fifth best running back in the nation and the 57th overall player in the 2010 class. Last year, he averaged 6.69 yards per carry in 55 attempts and scored three touchdowns, but was unhappy with his reduced role in the Husker offense.

Heard will visit Kentucky in the coming weeks, along with West Virginia, Pitt, and potentially Louisville. He’s been granted an unconditional release by Nebraska, and will be available for the 2014 season as a redshirt junior.

Mark Stoops and staff have already flipped one Nebraska commit in Marcus McWilson…is Heard next?

Watch him work:

By the time he steps on the field for UK he will be 4 years removed from high school. Then you add in how incredibly skilled he is and UK is looking like they are going to have an incredible team in 2014.

Was this the same guy that Nebraska put the conditional release of not choosing Kentucky if he transferred? They must have changed their mind.

If we can land him, that will be the shot HEARD round the world by our offense!

This guy looks lightning fast, powerful, and has great hands.

9 – I think you’re right. My first thought with that though was that it wouldn’t be enforceable. I seem to remember the NCAA at some point saying you can’t put those kinds of conditions on releases. I think the NCAA only allows those conditions against teams in your conference or teams you play the immediate following year.

Anyone else back me up on that or care to educate?

Looks like we are going to do really well in the future with Cardinal Mooney players. I hope they have 3 or 4 studs a year.

Outside of Mo William (and maybe Chris Jones), I don’t think we’ve ever had a player this skilled in the UK backfield.

    13. I thought so, but I wasn’t sure on the specifics of that. What you said sounds about right though.

Whoa! And 5), regardless if the clips are sped up, it’s not like he’s running alone. The guys chasing him are sped up too, and he is still leaving them behind… As Einstein said, “it’s all relative…”

Maybe it’s the jersey colors, or the number, but his running style reminds me of Reggie Bush – quick stop & go lateral cuts and some breakaway speed. Looks like this would another great pickup by Stoops.

Heard looks very good! I’d love to have a guy with his speed and vision. He runs hard and is the kind of back UK needs.

Nebraska is not an enemy, If a player wants to go elsewhere we just wish him luck and move on. He saw the writing on the wall he was going to play less. Good luck in K
