According to Jody Demling, Neal Brown is already on the recruiting trail, stopping by Trinity to watch star receiver James Quick. He’s not alone; Demling reports that James Franklin and assistants from Ohio State are also in the house.

Im happy to see Neal Brown making his presence felt in Louisville and especially at Trinity. The reality is that Quick is an extreme longshot, but you have to at least try and if it doesn’t work than maybe you at least leave a lasting impression on the Trinity coaches.
Quick is a longshot because Urban Meyer wants him at OSU and he also grew up a UL fan which means he probably goes to UL if he stays home. Neal Brown’s best sales pitch is that we are in the SEC which is better than the Big 10 or ACC and that he could come in and play as a freshmen in a very exciting offense.
don’t get to excited nothing has been done yet in 3 year football will be bottom of SEC looking for a new coach its just not going to change.
Time to find out how far this positive momentum goes. Go get ’em Neal.

Kinda hope Quick goes to Ohio St or Oregon. Like almost every other high profile Jefferson County kid that goes off to ‘greener pastures’ – never to be heard from again. Who was the last ‘stud’ that went off to ND, UT, OSt, Fla, etc that turned into a national name?
Quick will take a pay cut whatever college momma picks.

Right now, we have 5 committed 2 star players including a kicker,2 OTs, a QB and a WR. We also have a soft verbal from a 2 star Safety and a 3 star CB out of 14 commitments. By my count, we can take 11 more unless we dump the 2 stars. Will ANY of the former Florida st. coaches convince a Florida St. prospect to come to UK? Will ANY of the former Texas Tech coaches convinces a Texas Tech prospect to come to UK? Since it all begins with recruiting, I think we’ll have a good idea of these new coaches’ recruiting ability.
Right now, we have no idea how the current players are going to fit in with the new offensive and defensive schemes. I am excited about both sets of schemes and the coaches, but my experience with UK football since Bear Bryant tells me to trust but verify. Show me and I’ll be a VERY happy UK football fan.

Also, Nick Melilo, started at TE for UK, is a Trinity guy too.
You have to stay up on kids like this so you are in the mix when they transfer in a year. He will end up at Ohio st and get lost in the shuffle just like Jordan whiting.
He will end up at Louisville and we will get someone who is just as good from the state of Florida.

Quick is a long shot. That stated, Neal Brown runs an offense that has to be appealing to him. If we somehow were able to get this kid, we will be well on our way to having a very good team. This kid is the best of the best.
This kid will not get lost in the shuffle anywhere he goes. He will play right away and will be one of the nation’s very best players. I guarantee it. This kid has NFL written all over him.

41- I remember a few short years ago being ranked, and beating louisville. It’s goes in cycles. Now that we don’t have tweedle dee and dumb coaching things will change. The whole statement of saying “UK will always be a bottom feeder” is like saying Cal could not win with one and dones. I guess that means UL will always be a bottom feeder in the ACC.
@ 40, I like how you can admit beating Florida would be an “upset”. I can’t imagine what Florida would have done at home against UConn. It’s sad that Kentucky beat more ranked teams this year (Kent St) then UL. We might be bottom feeders in the SEC, but you have a losing record against us, so what does that make you? My you all have short term memories.
Timmons is good, but he isn’t James Quick. Quick is the best player to ever play at the best program in KY HS football. The gap between Quick and Timmons is significant.
29) what service are YOU looking at? Rivals has almost all of our commits as 3* and that kicker is ranked as the 3rd best kicker in the nation tool. Our kicker went about 50% this year and he was a senior so I’m thinking the 3rd best kicker in the nation is a solid pickup
They still need to feel good about their today. You had a good year for Louisville football but check that attitude at the door.

James is the only athlete ever in the state of KY to win state in football, basketball, and track in the same school year. He is the best athlete EVER from the state Kentucky.
49) James quick is good, but Trinity would have won in football and basketball even if he was not on the team. Ryan Timmons is a play maker and Franklin County would not have had the success it had without him. Timmons is also a state track champion, and one thing you should realize is that Timmons never went to track practice he would just show up to meets and run, while quick had several track coaches working with him everyday. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have both of them at Kentucky next year, but I would have to disagree that he is the best athlete in Kentucky.
Why would he go to UK? Well, ask Randal Cobb. Only Quick will touch the ball about four times more often than Cobb did.You can come to UK and play as a true freshman and be the star or you can go to Ohio State and red shirt and compete with about 6 or 7 guys who are just as good as you are and maybe you end up playing or maybe you don’t.
Why is it whenever anything about Trinity is mentioned on this site it is always about Trinity paying players. Even if they do there is no denying they are the most talented program in the state. So save your high school bitterness for yourself, no one cares.
James Quick is better than Ryan Timmons. Timmons is a 3 star on rivals (not in the top 250) and near the bottom of the ESPN 300 (252). While Quick is 114th (4 star) of rivals and 98th on ESPN. The fact that James Quick played way better competition through out his high school career (Playing mainly Tenseness, Indiana and Ohio teams) and put up Mr. Football numbers says it all. He went against 5 star Jalen Ramsey (USC commit) and held his own (8 catches 116 yards and a TD). Yes, Trinity is a much better team but they also played WAY better competition. The kids Timmons plays against are not as well coached or talented as he is. Both are studs but quick is in a separate league. Quick also has way better offers than Timmons which also says something.

Now you’re playing a team that’s in a conference where men play instead of a weak a$$ conference where little boys play. Had Loserville been in the SEC and played a schedule that UK had, you would’ve been at best 4-8. So brag all you want, but we’ll really see how good you are when you hit the field with Florida.
