Neal Brown not opposed to using multiple QBs in one game

Yes, I am using this picture again.

One niblet of news from the chorus of coach speak this morning at Commonwealth: during his turn at the podium, offensive coordinator Neal Brown said that while he would prefer to have one starting quarterback, he’s not opposed to using multiple QBs in a game if there is no clear cut leader: “Coach Spurrier does it all the time. There are scenarios that can be successful.”

Here’s what he had to say about each QB:

Jalen Whitlow: Liked how he he didn’t shy away when thrown into the fire, needs to build on promising spring game performance.

Reese Phillips: “Has no fear” going up against the sophomore QBs

Maxwell Smith: “Has the potential to be really accurate” if healthy.

Patrick Towles: Very athletic with a “big-time arm talent,” but needs to focus on getting the ball out of his hand faster.

Brown and Stoops will work together to decide on a starting quarterback, but ultimately, it will be Stoops’ decision.

Full recap coming soon.

Adidas Nations on TV tonight (courtesy of Ben Roberts):

The matchups are set for the final two games of the Adidas Nations, which will be shown Monday night on ESPNU.

Several Kentucky recruiting targets will play in the championship game between USA 2014 Red and USA 2014 Blue at 9 p.m. ET. The Red team includes Jahlil Okafor, Stanley Johnson and Justise Winslow. The Blue team will be led by Trey Lyles and Myles Turner.

Emmanuel Mudiay is also on the Blue roster but has been sidelined with a knee injury.

UK has offered Okafor, Johnson, Winslow and Lyles. Findlay Prep forward Craig Victor will also play for the Red team. Victor has expressed interest in Kentucky in the past, but he does not have a UK offer and is expected to choose from a list of other schools sometime this month.

The Adidas Nations third-place game between USA 2015 Red and Team Africa will be shown on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET. Las Vegas big man Stephen Zimmerman plays for the 2015 team. He is one of six players from his class with a UK scholarship offer.

Let’s hope Brown is not trying to
    psychologically prepare us for another
season of massacre like last year.

It’s media day. He would have said he isn’t opposed to using a four QB system if you had asked him.
Don’t get all excited. There will be one QB.

Gotta go with the Whit-Show, Smith said himself he may never be 100% healed and throws too many pics anyway, Towles holds on to the ball too long(Remember Morgan Newton) and Phillips should probably redshirt.

Please let the coaches pick the starting qb. Whoever is most efficient at the short passing game will get to start.

@ The Dude: Smith hadn’t thrown a pick in memory until the WKU game where he threw four. He’s a great QB. His health is all that’s in question.

#9, He’s only ever played against bad teams and he has still thrown 8 int, to 12 tds in his career. How many will he throw against real SEC teams?
