NCAA coaches to be held accountable for staff’s actions

This does not apply to Boeheim and Bernie Fine.

A new NCAA legislation will hold head coaches directly accountable for any rules violations by members of their staff. Gone are the days of “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” in the world of coaching. If an assistant breaks a rule, the boss will be just as guilty.

From USA Today:

The document reads, “A head coach is presumed responsible for major/Level I and Level II violations (e.g. academic fraud, recruiting inducements) occurring within his or her program unless the coach can show that he or she promoted an atmosphere of compliance and monitored his or her staff.”

Any coach who is found responsible for the most serious violations under those guidelines will be subject to an entire-season suspension, according to the document.

The new guidelines also state that beginning Aug. 1, 2013, men’s basketball coaches can be suspended for violations ranging from illegal contact with recruits, giving team gear to prospects or impermissible benefits given by third parties if the coach knows the third party has a relationship with the recruit.

The NCAA is also encouraging head coaches to ask how an unofficial visit was paid for, and advises coaches to ask their assistants if they suspect a third party or a handler is involved in the recruiting process.

No more playing ignorant for head coaches.

Again, this does not apply to Jim Boeheim and Bernie Fine.

Furthermore, Any Coach caught having the name John and Calipari in the same string of names will be found guilty of ….something.
We also will consider death penilty to any Coach that Has five #1 recruiting classes in a row while at the same time co-own a Fro-yo.

In related(fake) news – I has been reported that Roy Willams and 9 UNC basketball players allegedly where taped and admitted eating dead bodies of nunes and whipping their Asz with the US constitution.
When reached for comment the NCAA spokesperson advised they could find no rule against this and commented that Protein is good for a healthy body and it’s always nice to see young people interested in history…..

COME ON NCAA Do Your job!

The ncaa is digging its own grave. It will not be too long till the BCS schools pull away from the ncaa and form their own governing body. One with real rules and real accountability. This new rule is yet another example of the ncaa overstepping it bounds. Goodbye, ncaa.

Did they add whining as a punishable offense? If so, then Billy Donovan is going down.

10 – It appears that you know how to use copy/paste on your computer. It’s too bad you aren’t equally skilled at spelling and sentence structure. By the way, if you have missed the negative UK coverage on this site it just shows how infrequently you read it. Maybe you haven’t heard Matt admit that Joker needed to be fired on the radio. If you think the only reason Matt has a press pass is because he is brown-nosing the suits you are seriously deluded. Do you think for one minute UK would deny a press pass to the most popular UK website on the internet? Those “suits” might not have had anything to do with UK in the first place. They might very well have been from ESPN. Did you even consider that?

This rule is designed to try to catch Cal in something everyone swears he must be doing, and to cover the two times the NCAA said he wasn’t at fault (but everyone still blames him for the vacated Final Fours). But the teams it should impact, the Indianas, UCLAs, Kansas’s, UNCs, and Dukes, will not be held accountable. They’ll say the coach promoted compliance and it was a bad egg assistant, same as they always say.

    15) Yup. Aside from explicitly giving themselves permission to suspend a coach for a year, they already hold coaches responsible if they think they should have known, and when they think they couldn’t have known, they don’t hold them accountable.

    11) Um, you do know what it is people accuse Cal of doing at Memphis, right? It’s supposedly his fault Rose had someone else take his SAT. That doesn’t fit any of the things mentioned. No one has actually accused Cal of giving recruits anything or allowing impermissible contact. Everyone says WWW was doing stuff, but no one can actually name anything he did. Not to mention you all conveniently ignore how many other programs WWW is around and has even more access to than Cal “let him have.”

If you’re gonna troll, do it right.

#19 – Reggie Rose. And it does mention something about 3rd parties i.e. WWW.

If you’re going to try and call someone out, make sure you don’t sound like an idiot.

If academic fraud is a non punishable offense then how the hell is anything else except rape and murder pUnishable! The NCAA is laughable at this point! They r a joke and always will be! The trolls on this sight are probably mark emmeritt himself! I know I didn’t spell his name right and thats because he doesn’t deserve it!

    6) Has this right. Believe it or not, Cal is one of the only elite coaches NOT to have anything on his NCAA record. The previous crap at UMASS and Memphis go on the record of the school, but Cal was cleared. No one outside this state thinks Cal is clean because of a mix of bum luck and media bias. But under this new IDIOTIC rule, Cal can be held accountable for ANYTHING stupid ANYONE in the program does. A kid gets a free tattoo…or simply asks advice from the wrong coach. This is soooo stupid.
