NBA scout says UK could have eight first rounders in 2014 draft

And we thought last year was big.

In case you needed more proof to truly grasp how talented next year’s roster will be, an NBA scout told Adam Zagoria that Kentucky could have eight first round picks in the 2014 NBA Draft.

“If the three players come back (Poythress, Goodwin and Cauley-Stein), they could have eight first-round picks on the same team…unreal!” the Director of Scouting told

As of now, the three freshmen are all leaning toward returning, setting UK up for one of the most loaded rosters college basketball has ever seen. Throw in Andrew Wiggins and there’s no doubt John Calipari will have assembled the most talented squad in history.

It’s going to be a fun ride, folks. David Stern should just move the draft to The Kentucky Theater.

Future Breaking News: The State of Kentucky had a massive work stoppage today when millions of people fainted upon hearing the NBA would be instituting a 2-year rule.

Looking at the photo above, I would hope some of the 8 guys that may enter the draft next year would first talk to Teague, lamb, and even Darius Miller. Teague and Lamb would have been much better coming back toUK for another year rather than wasting away on the bench.

Until we have another team that puts 9 players in the NBA, the 1996 team will be the most talented team in our history. I’m as excited about next year as the next guy, but let’s see what they do before their coronation. I think we saw this year that being the best players in high school does not necessarily translate to being the best players in college, especially when you’re talking about 18 and 19 year old kids competing against 21, 22, and 23 year old men.

I agree with Steve at #11 above, super high school All Americans need older players with college experience and proven talent to lead them in the college game, particularly at UK where every game is THE GAME of the year for each opponent and the jealousy is rabid at every away venue. For Coach Cal’s system to succeed the team needs a great point guard/floor leader. Will a freshman step up among the super recruits next year and will the rest f the Wonder Kind follow him and buy into the system? This years’s group did not or were not capable and as a result they are not playing this weekend in either the Big Dance or the Little Dance.
Even had Noel not been injured UK was not that good this year although with as much parody within the chosen 68 teams who knows how far they may have gone? With him they would have been Dancing.

It’s hard to believe that Louisville fans would have the nerve to make any comments after the stupid article in the Courier Journal stating that this year’s cardinal team is better than last year’s UK team. That stupid sports journalist (he thinks he is anyway) needs to wake up and realize that there hasn’t been any cardinal team better than last year’s WILDCAT team.
If I were a cardinal fan, I wouldn’t be boasting too much until I was sure that the Cardinals aren’t going to choke like they usually do. Where are all these so called fans? They can’t even fill Rupp to support their team. I bet they will all be boasting if the Cardinals luck out & win the whole thing.
