NBA Cats Week In Review

Image Via Fansided

John Wall  and Co. made short work of the Chicago Bulls as the Wizards got the job done in 5. Along the way the former number 1 pick averaged 18.8 ppg with 6.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds. The Wizards and Wall will be well rested for whomever they will face in round two. Tomorrow night during the Kentucky Derby Indiana and Atlanta will square off with second round on the line. The Pacers survived last night but after dropping two games in Indy home isn’t exactly a safe place.

Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes

Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes along with the rest of Toronto are trying to finish off the Nets  over on ESPN 2. P-Pat is averaging 9.8 points a game during the postseason, which is 1.2 above his season average. Patterson has found his way into the Raptor’s crunch time rotation and is a major reason Toronto is on the verge of the second round. Chuck Hayes is averaging 1.3 points in backup minutes off the bench but hit the most spectacular ballerina shot of his career on Thursday. Check it out above. With a win the Raptors will take on the Heat in round 2.

Terrence Jones

Terrence Jones has found himself giving support off the bench in back-up minutes as the Rockets have tried to solve the LaMarcus Aldridge problem. Still, Jones is averaging 8.2 a game and will need to put up some numbers if Houston is going to force game 7 tonight in Portland. If so the series will return to Houston on Sunday.

Tayshaun Prince

The Grizzles appeared to have the Thunder dead to rights until Kevin Durant roared last night in Memphis. Now game 7 is tomorrow in OKC and the Thunder appear focused and ready to take care of business. Tayshaun is averaging just 2.5 points while playing 16 minutes per game. One reason has been the big play of Tony Allen in the series and another is having to defend Kevin Durant. The Grizzles will need everything in their arsenal to win tomorrow night.

Eliminated:

MKG

The Bobcats were swept by the Heat but Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had an okay showing against King James. He averaged 8.5 points, including 20 in game 3, with 7 rebounds and 1.5 assists.  The Bobcats are on the rise after making the playoffs in MKG’s second year maybe with some acquisitions this off-seasons they can make some moves.

Nazr Mohammed

Nazr was scoreless during this postseason and will enter his 16th season as an unrestricted free agent.

Which remaining Cat are you pulling for this weekend?

Why is nothing ever said about Dwane Casey, the coach of the Toronto Raptors? When he’s from Morganfield KY, played at UK and coached at UK too. Morganfield is my hometown and I can’t believe someone made it from there to head coach in the NBA. Good job Mr. Casey!

The NCAA cleared him of those charges after it was proved that he didnt send the letter, and how do you hold an assistant coach responsible for something like that anyway. Oh, and if we’re not going to talk about people linked to NCAA rules violations, then I guess we can’t talk about our current Coach on here either. You’ve heard the saying about people in glass houses haven’t you?

wow, incatfan, i am a strong cats fan and must admit i never knew casey had been exonerated.

there is a great article on this here (note: sorry, it’s by a hoosier. but, it’s a hoosier owning up to being wrong, so, it’s a good read):

      http://kentsterling.com/2011/03/23/dwane-casey-didnt-do-it-the-cautionary-tale-of-a-post-gone-wrong/

“…the fact that the NCAA moved to eliminate the one punishment that attached to Casey after the scandal is just as undamning as it is hard to find on the internet.”

“…Casey wasn’t in Lexington the day the package was mailed… the coach who opened the envelope found no cash in it…”

i suspect that a lot of cat fans like blotto and i, didn’t know this. i think the details of the casey story would be a good ksr post during these looong months before the start of the bask… er football season.

way to twist a stat, andrew. you probably should note, EITHER, that mkg averaged 8.5 points for the series or that he had 20 (actually 22) in game 3, but not both. because that only leaves 12 points for the other three games. of course, we all know mkg dominates the game in other ways, but still.
