More notes from Cal’s pre-Maryland presser

If you missed it earlier, the big news from Cal’s pre-Maryland presser was that Ryan Harrow and Julius Mays are questionable for tomorrow night’s game. But, Cal had plenty of other things to say. Here’s a brief recap:

On playing against Mark Turgeon, whom he coached while an assistant at Kansas: “I’m not one of those guys who likes playing friends, and Mark Turgeon’s a guy I’ve known for years.”

— When asked about Jon Hood, Cal said he was happy with how he played against Transy; he passed up some shots but played within himself.

Cal is happy that Dez Wells is eligible, calling him “one of those guys to set you over the top.” True to form, Cal said this is all about the players, so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. “He will make Maryland legitimately now one of those teams. They needed that one guy and he can be that guy.”

— Echoing what he said on yesterday’s radio show, Cal said he has no idea what to expect on Friday due to the team’s youth.

— Cal was very thankful and appreciative of the Big Blue Nation’s fundraising efforts at the telethon last night. Additionally, he said that if he has time, he plans to tour some of the damage in New York.

Go Cats.

If Harrow and Mays are out tomorrow, we might get blown out. It would mean taht eiher Jon Hood or Polson likely starts and the other would be the first guard/SF off the bench.

That said, I expect both to play and UK to win by 8 points.

Wells made the correct choice, if he had come to UK he would not have been allowed to play this year by the ncaa.

Excuse me Mitch, my son – if you have a moment. While I appreciate your stance on only hiring upstanding and reputable individuals for coaching positions at your University – I ask that you open your heart to those trying to make amends. My son Bobby has made mistakes in his life – I still love him and want him to succeed. I have forgiven him his sins and look forward to him turning his life around. If those that call themselves Christians can not and will not accept someones sins and give them a second chance then I worry that you open yourself to people judging you as a true Christian. I understand in your world there are contracts and memorandums of understanding that can protect you against personal failures of a coach – so you could with a free conscious hire someone that you question. Mitchell, I hope you can see it in your heart to give a man another chance. Thank you for your time – talk to you later.

Bless you all, and Go Big BLUE!

I’m curious of how the UK faithful turnout will be for tomorrow. I’m not hearing anything here. Do we have a pre-game party spot? I know there is a Buffalo Wild Wings across the street.
