More bad news for Louisville

It keeps getting worse for Louisville. Junior forward Rakeem Buckles torn an ACL in his left knee in the first half against Marquette yesterday. Buckles will miss the remainder of this season and all of next season after his second career knee injury. Buckles tore the ACL in his right knee last year and was just getting back to speed.

We love to laugh at Louisville’s failures, but nothing is funny about someone going down to a serious injury. Even though he is a rival Cardinal, Rakeem Buckles is a kid trying to live his dream and this could very well be a career-ender.

Hate to hear that, especially for him. I hope it’s not career ending and he can get back to playing at a high level again.

I,m not a cardinal fan, but no kid deserves this. Sorry for the Buckles, not Louisville.

How many ACL tears is that for Louisville this year? 3 or 4 or something right? What the hell is Pitino doing to these guys?

Buckles has said that he regrets the day he signed to play for Rick Pitino. It is a shame that he
    has another serious knee injury.

Wish him a speedy recovery and an opportunity to reclaim the spotlight. No one deserves a severe injury like this, we can only wish him the best going forward.

You have to wonder if all these injuries are just bad karma coming down on Pitino’s players after all he has done…

What parent would let their kid play for Pitino?

His morals, his track record of ruining kids chances for the pros, his constant throwing them under the bus?

Pitino’s players at UL have had more than their share of injuries pretty much the whole time he has been there. Training methods? Diet? Lack of body fat? Bad luck? Karma? Karen Sypher?

He seemed to bring a lot of energy to U of L when he first returned to their lineup. For some reason, his impact on the team’s performance never materialized. Very sad news for this young man and his family.

He’s arguably their best player when healthy…really is a shame. Speedy recovery to Mr. Buckles.

Too bad, hate to hear that.

You have to wonder whether Pitino’s practice habits predispose his players to ACL tears. We had our share at UK under him and now UL has had a ton. No other teams come close to the number of ACLs that RP’s players tear. Can’t just be bad luck, something else has to be causing this…

Bad news for a young man who appears to be a really good guy. He has the makings of being a very good player too. Reminds me of Bowie. Guy just can’t get a break. Best of luck in his recovery.

There is a reason this news was made public right away. Pitino is hoping it will sway Willis’s decision toward more playing time at UL.

Hey BBN (post 28), Are you serious? They announced this only for Derek Willis. Injuries like this are always reported. Kentucky would report it just like Louisville. Show some compassion for the guy and refrain from a stupid comment about a recruit.

If Ricky P could recruit anymore, these injuries wouldn’t be so devastating to his teams. While I feel sorry for Buckles, as I thought he was a talented player, UL and their self-righteous fan base being in a free fall does not bother me.

Terrible! What are the odds of the same playing having not one, but two, torn ACL’s? Just unbelievable! His basketball career is most likely over. He needs to turn his attention to his academics and prepare for life after basketball.

    # 20, you’re right. When Pitino was at UK, Jeff Brassow, Derek Anderson, and Rodney Dent (did he play for RP?) all blew out ACLs. I don’t think we’ve had one since he left?

Most of these comments are very sincere and giving best wishes to a good kid. Some of you are about as classy as Lindsay Lohan’s rolled up dollar bills. [email protected] some of the garbage I see here.
Thanks to those who were classy, grow up and get over it to those who weren’t. It’s a game, it’s sports, and this is a kids life, passion, and dreams.
“Fans” like that are the kind that give the BBN a bad name, like the ppl who were wishing Pete Thammel’s kids born crippled.

#13 if the “bad karma” thing is accurate-it’s certainly a shame the kids have to pay for Pitino’s misdeeds. Best of luck to Mr. Buckles-you can be an honorary Wildcat as far as I’m concerned.

No need for any of the comments regarding UofL in this one folks JMO. Best wishes to Mr. Buckles from this UK fan. All these kids are out there busting their humps for us fans everyday whether we’re UK, UofL. It’s unfortunate that these injuries sometimes happen while they’re providing entertainment for us. Heal up Rak and hopefully you’ll be able to resume your dreams when you’ve recovered.
