Get him now Cal! I honestly believe that this guy truly wants to be a Cat!! We will be all set with Harrell on board. Quick skilled guards, shot blocking presence, athleticism like crazy on the wings, banger down low, spot up shooter, and the best coach in the business! lets do this!!
I’m all for some more depth but why exactly do we want him so badly? Is he better than Wiltjer and would come in and start? Is he better than Poythress at the 4 since he would be getting the backup minutes? I doubt he would steal any minutes from Cauley in the big rotation, it seems like every single recruiting service has Cauley rated higher, granted he plays a different position. I just don’t want to reach if there’s no reason to. Would Harrell be the lowest rated recruit in the Calipari era?
He will have to weight the idea of being recruited over every year as Cal is always looking for the best. Is he confident enough to think he can compete with anyone? Is he like Kyle W and wants to play with the best for four years to be his best? If neither of those apply may be best for him to look else where if he wants to be the man four 3-4 years.
From the little bit I’ve seen, this kid seems to have a lot more ability than Cauley. (who looks more like a project)

I don’t see Cal brining in another freshman that will most likely be here at least 2 years if not 3 or 4. Noel will play 38min a game and Wiltjer will play with the occasional small line up of Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Twany/Hood, Noel. We are slim but we will have 7 players with Cauley.
#7 I realize we need a rebounder and defender at the 4, but I’ve watched all the youtube videos and I saw a guy with a great motor and good athleticism dunking and laying up on a bunch of 6’4 white kids. What I’m saying is with the addition of Mays and versitility of Poythress, Cal might already have his lineup set. Harrow, Mays, Goodwin, Poythress and Noel with Wiltjer first off the bench which makes me feel like this kid would come in and play Stacey Poole mintues. But if he ends up here I’ll be perfectly fine with it.

For those who don’t know about this kid, this kid has the motor of a Kidd-Gilchrist mixed with the body of a Anthony Bennett and the “hops” of a Bledsoe. He’s highly under-rated. Any team would be fortunate to snatch him. This is why Cal likes him. Despite the length of Noel, Poythress, Cauley, and Wiltjer, we have no real “bangers” down low for next year! Having someone fulfill the Terrence Jones role he played on the team this past season would be helpful in order to go deep in the tournament. Poythress is good but this kid Harrell is 6-7 230 AT LEAST! That’s why getting the kid would be VERY HUGE to our team!
#12 I threw Cauley in the mix and I’m expecting a little something from both Twany and Hood but I know what you’re saying we need one more.
Man I want this guy. Could be a star on the college level but not be able to make the jump to the nba right away.
We’ve all seen Wiltjer’s defense last year… nothing impressive. Hopefully he works on that this summer. We can’t rely strictly on Noel to block EVERY shot down low. The more big bodies in the mix to help, the better. Not too sure about Cauley’s defense – but with his height he should be effective – probably later than sooner. Getting this Harrell kid would give KY much needed size. Someone to guard the “UT Stokes” bodies out there. Other than possibly Noel and Poythress, there’s no guaranteed defensive threat on this team to guard the big power forwards out there. Harrell could easily be a “fan favorite”!

If you were a premium member on my site you would have known that Cal wasn’t interested in Jefferson and is not interested in Harrell. He is done recruiting for 2012.
Defense could be a serious problem for this team. Harrell would be a defensive asset and would continue to be an asset for multiple years. I am a little tired of this playing with 6-8 players anyway. What’s wrong with having 9 or 10 who are capable of getting a few minutes? Get him if you can. He will decide whether or not sitting the bench at UK vs PT somewhere else is in his best interest.
Cal is not going to recruit Harrell.

I don’t understand some peoples logic with Harrell. Maybe he’s not as good as Poythress. So what? He’s a top 10 player in the country. Darius Miller wasn’t as good as MKG, but he played a vital role in us winning the championship and added depth to the team. Not saying Harrell is a Miller type, but saying he could end up being just as useful to this years team as Miller was to lasts. The kid has a lot of talent and upside and we need depth off the bench. I know Cal likes teams with 6-8 man rotations, but eventually that is going to hurt us. Anyone ever hear of a little thing called injuries? Anyone remember 97 when Derek Anderson got hurt? What about foul trouble? Do you guys remember Wiltjer’s defense last season? Lets be honest, even last years team was one injury away from exiting the big dance pre-final four. We have 13 scholarships so if we see someone that can come in and add some depth to a position, why not bring him in?
And stop saying that poythress is a 4 man…he is a 3 and will get beat up at the four spot. He is not going to be able to guard a high major power forward.

Look folks!!! I want Harrell on UK’s team but it won’t help us next season anyway…but i want him here because he looks like a good player and we need a PF. All these people proclaiming that he is the lowest rated player being recruited,or lack of playing skill whatever…go fly a kite…i once remember a player who wasnt rated very highly and ended up being the best to play at UK (yes, Jamal Mashburn) so people please let’s let this play out..we need players…Cal needs to abandon the 6 only rule because u never know the injury bug could hit this team & that would put UK in rebuilding mode with not enough players. I say bring them on…13 is your limit so continue to sign them.
