Monday Notes for the Morning

After a number of understandable requests, going forward, derogatory comments about the appearances of the UK fans put in the “Fans of the Day” pictures will be grounds for automatic suspension from commenting privileges. Positive comments are fine and even encouraged, but the bashing of fellow UK fans, especially female fans, is over.

Its very late and we got a long week ahead, so lets get right to it in honor of Darius Miller who is stylin’, profilin’ and representing the USA in New Zealand….

— This is a big week for 2010 recruiting as the next seven days are filled with local college basketball recruiting. The Lebron James Skills Academy kicks into full gear tomorrow in Akron and Dustin is at the camp and will be giving us reports all day. Then AAU action kicks off in Cincinnati on Tuesday and Wednesday and in Louisville on Thursday-Sunday. Throughout all of those events, UK targets will be participating and playing in games that will have an effect on their final 2010 ranking. We also may get a better idea of which prospects the UK coaches are focusing in on, and which will ultimately end up with an offer. Even though this is a slow time of year, this week should have a lot of tidbits along the way.

— There has been a lot of internet chatter about Darnell Dodson and the fact that he remains the one UK wildcat who hasnt been around the campus yet this summer. Calipari addressed this concern late last week and said that Dodson is scheduled to arrive for the second summer semester (which I believe starts in 2 weeks) and that the fact that he isnt on campus has no meaning as to his eligibility. I have heard nothing to contradict that, so I think it is a safe assumption at this point.

— If you missed it this weekend, Matt Pilgrim went to Oklahoma State. Debate still rages as to why he was let go and what his talent level will be, but now he has a stage upon which to showcase himself. We shall see the ultimate results and if the decision was indeed correct.

— I know this has been repeated a million times, but the Eric Bledsoe reports continue to be phenomenal. I spoke with a former player this weekend who told me that he saw Eric two weeks ago and “if I didnt know who was Wall and who was Bledsoe, I might have thought that Bledsoe was the #1 player in America.” The former player told me that “there literally is no one who can stay in front of him. He is unguardable.” We all know that pickup reports can be deceiving…but man it sounds good.

Still wading through the 250 Who Wants to be a Blogger entries, trying to make sure all get read. We will have the final 20 very soon after Beisner is located (has anyone seen him?). Watch for LeBron James reports all day and a feature later this afternoon on the Ten Names of UK legends that never played a game. There are some good memories from the past for you. Stay tuned….
