MLB Road Trip, Day 4: Baltimore

We’re almost halfway there! The KSR MLB Road Trip knocked out its fourth stadium yesterday in Baltimore. The Red Sox were in town to play the Orioles and the Sox fans rolled deep into Camden to see their team lose. We had fun, though. That’s all that really matters.

The Shops of Princeton University

We had breakfast (at noon) on Princeton’s campus and went for a walk looking for trouble before leaving town. Our wandering around led us to Princeton’s bookstore, which is just as nerdy as you’d think it would be. D.J. almost bought a Princeton Squash shirt, but he was worried that it wouldn’t match this hat:

Rain, 40-50 MPH winds, severe thunderstorm warnings, and rain

Mother Nature threw everything she had down on us as we hit the Baltimore city limits. A game cancellation seemed inevitable, but that wasn’t going to keep us from driving to Camden and waiting it out. Luckily, the storm moved on and the game started just as planned. I think it was just Mother Nature’s way of washing down the filthy streets of Baltimore for us.

Another missed exit. Another afternoon in the hood.

So we missed an exit again. This time we detoured through the hood of Baltimore and it made Queens look tame. Look for us on the next season of The Wire.

Was that a… yep, it was.

While driving through the roughest part of Baltimore, we passed a lady on the sidewalk who was… ummm… working. And to put it politely, she looked awful. I’ve never seen anything like her/it. I’ll be haunted for the rest of my life. Sorry I don’t have a photo for you. And by sorry, I mean you’re welcome.

Awesome seats, again.

I didn’t think we’d get closer than we were in Detroit, but we did. Our seats were a straight shot back from home plate and even closer this time. To put it in perspective, our view of the park was exactly like playing a homerun derby on Ken Griffey Jr. baseball on Super Nintendo. Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. Hit it in a window!

Grading The Dog (8.2)

Bratwurst: $6… I’m a sucker for bratwursts. We have a new leader.

Fried Crab Sandwich $12… Matt says it was “scrumptious.”

2 for $5 Yuenglings at California Tortilla… Yes please.

Big Blue Nation is everywhere.

We’re 4 for 4 on finding UK fans in the ballparks. That’s awesome. You know what else is awesome? This jorts coozie…

Boston Red Sox fans are everywhere.

Boston fans nearly outnumbered Baltimore fans in Camden Yards. Red Sox chants were louder than anything coming from the Orioles fans. How does that happen?

Orioles 6, Red Sox 2

I had to look that up. I’m not proud of it, either.

Boston Sucks! Baltimore Sucks! FIIIGGGGGHHHHHTTTTT!!!!

It was an eventful walk back to the car. Pardon the foul language…

Up Next: Pittsburgh

Burt Reynolds could be making a second road trip appearance.

Have fun in the ‘Burgh – my hometown!! The Buccos are not exactly sucking at the moment, which should hopefully make for a good game. If you get a chance, head up Mt. Washington after the game – it’s an amazing view of the city that should not be missed. AND- head to Market Square (not too far from PNC Park) for a sandwich at Primanti Bros… a staple of the city. Pure Burgh-awesomeness. #WEAREUK all around the world!

The ole “east ky” reverse mullet. Jones is dangerously close to it with his new cut. Notice the “comb down” in the front. Only in EKY do you see this. Add a little hair gel and it’d be a full blown “EKY reverse mullet”

Primanti Brothers is not for everyone. If you don’t like vinegar coleslaw and soggy french fries piled inside your sandwich then go elsewhere.

#12 Leroy – I hate coleslaw, any type of vinegar and soggy fries. Though it comes with slaw and many will say it’s not a true Primanti’s without it, I don’t care and I order it without the slaw, which means no vinegar and no soggy fries. They are made to order, so get it however you want. Just make sure to keep the fried on the sammy! 🙂

Gardner Webb??? You should never post anything on a UK board again. If you do then someone should proceed to stomp a mudhole in your @55. What kind of UK fan would wear a Gardner Webb shirt? Do you think a Louisville fan would ever wear a Morehead St shirt? 🙁
