Missouri-St. Louis is Coming to Town….

lisab

There are lots of reasons to pay attention to St Louis, Missouri tonight. Tomorrow St Louis will be ground zero for the election, with the city providing a chance for Obama to nab a red state that Bush won in 2000 and 2004. But that isnt what is important. What is much more crucial is that Missouri-St. Louis is coming to town for an exhibition game against the Cats tonight in Rupp Arena. With Mosley detained by authorities, we are left to learn about the fighting hypenated names on our own….and that truly is a shame, as this game would be a great chance to learn more about a city that is best known for Cardinals and arches. We do know that Lisa B (a former Missouri-St.Louis PhD student who is now a cheerleader for the St Louis Rams) went to the University, but what else is known about the team that will take the floor?

Well the answer is, very little. Billy Gillispie said that the team is actually a short team, with their lineup usually filled with guards. They like to move the ball up and down the floor and are often putting a shot up early in the possession. This is a chance for the big men to shine and I am interested in watching Josh Harrellson, Jared Carter and Perry Stevenson tonight to see if they can exploit the potential matchup problems to their advantage. Other than that, tonight will be a bit of a surprise. However in preparation, we should think about what stands out about St Louis. Here is a mini-list:

The Arch
The Cardinals
Mark McGwire
Bob Gibson
Stan Musial
Nelly
Kurt Warner’s buzz cut
the Blues
Clark Griswold
Mississippi River
Anheiser-Busch
Ribs (Bomani’s addition)
Bowling Hall of Fame

Feel free to add your own…..
