Darius Miller and his Team USA crew completed pool play in the World University Games earlier today, finishing off an undefeated record in the round by beating Israel 94-84. Miller started and played 21 minutes. finishing the game with a line that included 7 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. He also knocked down his only three-point attempt of the day. He finished pool play averaging 6.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1 steal while playing 19 minutes/game.
The game represented the first real test for the Americans in the competition, as they had cruised to wins in their first four games by an average margin of almost 50 points. They trailed by two at halftime but took control in the second half and Israel never got within eight points down the stretch. Team USA will get a day off before playing Lithuania, who was 4-1 in pool play, in the quarterfinals. If they win, they’ll play the winner of Canada vs. Romania for a berth in the gold medal game.
