Mike Rice wins the title of Worst Coach Person Ever
Back in December, Rutgers head coach Mike Rice was suspended for three games and fined $50,000 for throwing basketballs at his players’ heads, which, at the time, sounded bad enough, but now, ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” has obtained practice footage of Rice physically and verbally abusing his players, and after watching it, it’s a wonder he wasn’t fired on the spot.
According to ESPN, Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti viewed 30 minutes of the footage back in December and decided to only give Rice a three-game suspension and fine. Seriously?! Watch the video above and tell me if you think that was a fair punishment. Ironically, Pernetti is a finalist for Athletic Director of the Year.
Even Billy Gillispie is shaking his head.

Everyone can say this and that about Cal, but you will never see that from him. That jughead above needs to be let go and stay out.
Big tough man picking on kids. What a jerk and shame on Rutgers for not firing him. I wouldn’t want any kid of mine to play for him.
Bobby Knight sees nothing wrong with this.
I like his style…
think ill send my boys over to pay him a visit!
Getting out of hand. I’m about to go vote against them…

The gap has been widening all afternoon. We have no momentum. Mods, please re-post the poll on the Blog. Not enough people are reading the comments!! You people have enough time to leave a comment name-calling complete strangers and criticizing high school kids. Don’t you have enough time to help us win the only Final Four we will see this year?
Big tough head coach. He wouldn’t run up on those same kids in the street like that so why do it at practice? And people wonder why kids carry AR-15s to school.
The new Bobby Knight!
He could be arrested for assault if he exhibited that behavior out in public–seriously! If you do that out in public and a cop sees you, you will find yourself in handcuffs! Sadly, coaches have always gotten away with criminal behavior if done out of the eye of the public.
I imagine the recruits and their parents will be lining up to play for him now.
In Soviet Russia, Ho Burger eats you!

The coach and the AD should be fired and never allowed to coach again.
#3 & #4 are right. In the dictionary, online of course, under Bully it now has a picture of this prick. How in the world none of these players went after him particularly returning fire w/ a basketball is shocking to me.
As for the guy in the interview saying he was shocked how anyone would think this kind of coaching approach would work is in itself surprising as I guarantee and is evidenced here on this thread, anyone that watches this video will immediately conjure up images of Baby-&-Bully-Bobby Knight and his ‘coaching style’.
This guy no only should be fired, the ncaa and hs athletics should give him a No-Coaching EVER-AGAIN life-sentence. Anything less is unacceptable.
The Ho only gets my vote at 4 in the morning when I can’t feel my face and there is no other place to go. I am going to write in for Rincon on 2 for 1 night or Ramsey’s for fried chicken or for Mad Mushroom’s cheese sticks when you want to avoid The Ho.
There’s no way the NCAA can let this slide, considering how hard they came down on Penn State with ZERO actual “evidence”. Forget about the 3-game suspension…this scumbag should be fired immediately, retroactively fined for the time he was allowed to coach since the first damning practice footage was recorded. And then, the parents of the kids should band together and sue the ever living sh*t out of Rutgers for allowing it.
Coach and AD both need to go. That’s incredible. Rice is damn lucky those players show self-control or they’d take his head off. Incredible.
Please tell me the polls are closed for the final four of the greasiest college food…
I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. If rape by your coach is inevitable, you might as well just lay back and enjoy it!
Dang, this guy deserves jail time. Seriously.
I played for maybe the toughest SOB to every step foot on a KY high school baseball field, and he had the quickest temper I’ve ever seen. He would grab players by their jerseys and yell all the time, but he NEVER insulted a player like that or threw equipment at us and we always knew he was doing it because he wanted us to succeed. There is a big difference. This guy is a prick and probably a big fairy himself off the court when the kids can defend themselves.
#3 shut up, like any of your kids could play college ball you freakin dolphin
Rice and Pernetti should *both* lose their jobs over this. I’d even go so far as to say that Rice should be banned from coaching.
this years mens team couldve used some coaching like this honestly. i dare you to disagree with me
#23 for your information one of mine does. You’re a jackass. Another big person that runs there mouth about nothing they know about safely behind the computer. Your the one that needs to shut up.
oh my apologies 26, i didn’t know never ever land U was a NCAA recognized institution
i will be coming out with a phD dissertation shortly proving the validity of the claim that Carl is indeed a dolphin. stay tuned
hey my bad man, i wasn’t trying to insult your kid. just being dumb on the comments section. sorry bro.
ARCHIE WOULD WHOOP HIS ASS!!
Carl may or may not be a dolphin, but you (dsjfh) are living proof that monkeys can type with their feet. 🙂
NO DOUBT YOU ARE AN DKAFHSDLKNJFDS
LOL GOOD ONE 38
/lllll/,SAa
.
.
I say the players need to get together and throw this dude a good ol fashion blanket party.
Rice must have tutored under Gillespie.
32-35 YOU’RE THE DOLPHIN!
As someone above said, the NCAA should intervene as well. Let’s see how much they really care about these student athletes. If this piece of crap coach and the AD both aren’t fired within the week, Rutgers should be sued for every dime they have. There is absolutely no place for this type of behavior from a coach. The AD fires the whistle blower and then thinks a fine and 3 game suspension is all that’s needed for the actual perpetrator. Someone call the village and tell them we’ve found their idiot.
I am coming, guys. Hold on!
Sickening. I can’t imagine having to endure this day in and day out. Rutgers needs to protect their students and fire his ass now.
I would love to stomp a mud hole in his head.
He will be gone by sunrise tomorrow.
This guy is crazy. This man needs Tolly Ho in his life to brighten his mood. BTW The ‘Ho is losing to Marquette. Follow this link to vote for them

“This is a players last program.” — Mike Rice
Give the guy a break, he’s just passionate. What’s the big deal?
Rice and AD will be fired by this evening. He can never recruit another kid again. Find a new line of work Rice and AD.
Terrence, you m*****f***er!!!
Rutgers has another issue not shown in this video – the AD terminated the guy that was talking for reporting the coach for his illegal activity…whistleblower lawsuit anyone?
First off – no excuse for the ball-throwing, kicking, or serious verbal abuse. He should be fired.
However, many of the clips are of hands-on instruction (fighting through a screen, bodying up for a block-out, etc. Although a lot of it looks out of bounds, if you understand basketball, some of it is not inappropriate, at all.
That said, the other stuff is very troubling… No coach should EVER treat players like that.
Why on earth would anybody in their right mind want to play for or coach under a jerk like that? There is no excuse-Bobby Knight proved this is not the way to coach. It might have been acceptable 40 years ago, but people wised up and figured out treating kids like dirt was the wrong way. Coaches have a responsibility to help kids, teach and encourage them and prepare them for whatever is next. He has abused his privilege and responsibility. Guys like he and Billy Gillispie have gone the way of the dodo. Get rid of him and never let him “coach” another kld.
Someone should file criminal charges against him for assault; then get a restraining order that prevents him having contact with team members on or off the court. The player/students could also file a civil claim against the University. That should lead the athletics director to make a reasonable decision and get rid of Mike Rice ASAP.
Get rid of this idiot now!!!! No place for that crap in basketball or anywhere else.
