Middle schoolers? James Franklin will offer your unborn child a scholarship

Vanderbilt’s head coach James Franklin has made a name for himself as a popular up-and-coming coach, with a slightly unconventional personality. Franklin has said and done some strange things already in his time as the Commodores head coach. Prepare to add another strange quote to the list.

Franklin was interviewed by the Tennessean the other day, and in the interview he made a comment that made Mark Stoops’ scholarship offer to a middle schooler seem mild. “If I see a 6-foot-6 man walking in the mall with his wife, and she’s 6-2 and she’s pregnant, I’ll go up and offer their unborn child,” he said. “I’m not exaggerating. I do that all the time. If I go speak to an elementary school, if I’m out at a restaurant, we kind of have fun with it.”

If you’re tall and pregnant, beware. No one is safe.

He must be doing something right. Last time I checked, Vandy beat Kentucky with a decent margin last year.

It’s a good thing he isn’t a biology teacher, because that’s not how biology works.

I see nothing wrong with that, honestly. And he’s half-joking obviously.

That’s Vandy for you. I honestly try to like Vanderbilt. They’re our rival but at the same time, I always felt like UK and Vandy identified sports-wise in the SEC. However, Stallings and Franklin are both eccentric. They say weird things, and are just out there. So I get he was kidding, and it’s not a foul joke, just awkward.

That said, I hope we can duplicate Vanderbilt’s recent FB success.

I think this is a hilarious comment. Franklin has a good sense of humor and I’m surprised anyone is actually “creeped” out by it.

He offered our neighbors kid at an autograph signing at Kroger in Nashville and he’s 3 yrs old! They told me that and we all joked about it. Dont guess James was joking.
